Well, if that is the way she can tour, then that's the way she can tour. A large group of fans will probably accept it, as they want to hear and see their favourite music live. Others will not, and will keep clamoring for the original singer to come back, even after 10 years with the new one. Hmmm.....this has a familiar ring to it...

Well there are people who I had the time of my life with 30 years ago (I know 1977 is 45 years ago, but I'm not that old that I had the times of my life then ), but that I don't care to have in my life anymore now.

Yeah I mean, even Ann had to tour as "Ann Wilson of Heart" although I don't know if she's being billed that way this time.

Promotors hold a lot of power. I remember an interview a few years ago with Donald Fagen, who wanted to retire the Steely Dan name, after Walter Becker had died, because Fagen felt that the name really represented both of them, the team. But he complained that no promoter was prepared to book a tour with him, unless it was as Steely Dan. Not even as "Donald Fagen of Steely Dan" and that he was in some heavy discussions with promoters .

Well, the promoters won I guess, because the next summer he went out as Steely Dan on a joint tour with The Doobie Brothers. It gives some insight into the power relations.

I know some fans have been suggesting that current Yes should go out as "Steve Howe's Yes" or "Steve Howe and Friends", but the above example is exactly why that isn't likely to happen, no matter that there are no "original" members in the line-up. As long as the band name/brand holds any commercial appeal, promoters will not accept it any other way. And the artists are depended on promoters for touring, which in today's music industry is their main source of income.

Yes I have said much the same over the years. Now that touring is the main source of income for artists and promoters/ticketing agencies have a larger powerbase (in that some companies not only control the ticket sales but also own the venues), the promoters call the shots as much as they can get away with.

Heard the newest single on the radio this morning - a cover of Eurythmics' "Missionary Man." It's good.
