    I want to go there

    Inspired by Soundwaveseeker.
Which Dean cover would you most like to visit?

I’m going with Tales, because I’d like to see what makes those fish fly

The first Greenslade album please: all those passages and caves... {Though I like the cats on the second album too]

Great thread. CTTE feels like the end of the journey. The interior island with the small temple. Seen close up on From A Page. 😑

            Great thread!
I'll need to think a bit, before answering, though.
I really like the colours on the Drama cover, but other Deanscapes would probably be more enticing as destinations.

              Here.

Except, where does all that water come from?

Well, of course the Drama cover - stormy! You know the cool summer weather you get right before a massive thunder storm? It's dark, trees blowing everywhere but no rain yet? I'd love a full day of that. No rain though.

The Asia Alpha cover is nice - a paradise - a place of tropical beauty. As long as that eagle on the cover doesn't swoop down and peck the shi* out of you, it's a place to be.

Classic Yes from 1981 is a favorite location. You're coming out of the water in the darkness, but rest assured, that tower isn't too far off. You'll be ok.

Steve Howe's Beginnings cover is a fantastic fantasy world, the path thru the marshland and the weird house structure - does Yoda live in there? Great cover!

Relayer? Great album, great cover, but would you really want to be there? Hot, dry, snakes coiled upon granite. A man could die out there.

Actually Heaven & Earth is a cool cover - the mushroom shaped formation some ways off. What's in there? Roger Dean doesn't devote much time to what is actually inside these structures he presents. Maybe it's time for that for a new album cover.

And the Union cover? Not a bad place to be, just passin' through. Kinda shady.
Lots of great places to go with these album covers.

The first time I saw a Roger Dean piece was on the "Classic Yes" album in high school. My friend let me borrow it. I listened to Heart of the Sunrise and about lost it! I was blown away!

The waterfalls, the cool colors, that cover grabbed me. When I met Mr. Dean at the Royal Affair concert, he was absolutely a joy! He was so kind to my sons, daughter, and wife. He was a true gentleman. I told him that the Classic Yes was my first experience, and it sucked me in. From there on, I was a fan of his. I think that cover, though not his best by far, still holds a warm place in my heart. I'd like to visit it.

didnt Dean have to add them in at the record company's request? they might not be on the actual painting... but good call nonetheless

The fish? Think they were always there. The actual paintin' is in storage somewhere. For sale for multi millions. Jon and Alan wanted the pyramid and Lines from Azca.

How do the fish float? Magnetic repulsion?

On further reflection. The record company may have requested the slipstream between the fish that wasn't there initially. Not 100% sure.

I would like to start with Fragile because that is the beginning of the expedition.

On the silent wings of freedom, at a guess.

Classic Yes always looked like a fun place. Then again, From A Page has some shelter and I bet the food and other goodies are good there.

Yes. Why oh why is that Floating Islands project not happening?
With deep fakes and Abbatars we could have the various incarnations of the Yes band playing in those landscapes! It could be so great...
Maybe in another 15 years time, these technical options can be used by you and me, and we’ll make our own 3d Dean movies!
