  • Anderson plans

Jon Anderson is always busy, with many projects on the go... generally more projects than he actually has time to do. It can be difficult to see the wood for the trees. That is, to discern what projects are actually going to be happening imminently. But we've seen a few interviews recently, perhaps most notably the one published in Spanish, that might shed light on what's coming.

In terms of live work, Jon is talking about a world tour with the Paul Green Rock Academy. While there has been talk of a second leg with the Geeks, it looks like touring with the kids is going to dominate Anderson's calendar. In terms of releases, I still expect 1000 Hands: Chapter Two at some point, but we've not heard anything lately. Anderson talks most about the first Zamran album, which sounds like it is ready to go, although I think at best we'd still be looking at a 2024 release. Meanwhile, Roine Stolt has been talking a lot about Anderson/Stolt 2, so it sounds like that will actually happen. Again, don't expect anything before 2024.

Jon’s got something special going with the Geeks, too bad this old dog can’t seem to shake his squirrel tendencies.

I may not have put it quite like that 🙂, but yes - it could have been very interesting to hear something coming from Jon and the Band Geeks.

          Same, here.
What I'd ideally like is an album that sounds different from the first one, but that also has a consist sound across its new songs, (similarly to how IoK does). And, of course, I would need to like the new sound!
Nevertheless, something that is not like this could turn out to be equally good. So fortunately, I can still be happily optimistic.

Stolt talked about the album in his Yesshift interview (on YouTube), saying:

"There's one little song he [Jon Anderson] wrote together with his son [Damion], y'know, that I absolutely love. Great song. Very melodic. Very poppy, but great.

"I'm thinking, it's a kind of a song that you think you hear on on the radio, it could be a hit song [...] Not a dance song, nothing like that. It's more like a... I don't know what to say, what to call it, but it's just like a very radio friendly song [...] Maybe three and a half, four minutes.

"So I mean, that's great stuff. There's progressive stuff and more developed, y'know, orchestral things. So we've been working on lots of stuff, but I think now is the time to, to pin it down [...] and decide what can be recorded"

I really hope that Jon releases some of this much-heralded stuff before (let's be realistic) he dies, or failing that, that he has appointed a musical executor for his estate, so that if nothing else, it comes out in the form of additional discs for that long-ago box set.

But. Then. What would we do with all those Polystyrene Prayer Squares? 😉

I’ll get excited when there is a release date for any of this.

...."and decide what can be recorded". If that's where the process is, then I wouldn't expect the album before 2025, not 2024.
