I agree. Opinions seem divided about it (as ever), but I hear some lovely melodies and new lyrical themes. Musically, it isn't as punchy as some of classic Yes, and it maybe could have done with some editing in the middle but it is rich in details (and many thematic little quotes from Yes material, especially from Tom Brislin) and interleaving themes that emerge on repeated listens.

When I first heard this disc a few years ago I heard quite a bit of Genesis, even Beach Boys some very 70s ish sounds. I love it and personally think it is the closest thing to a real Yes release since Magnification, I.e. if it had the Yes logo on it would have fit right in during the Going for the One or Tormato time period.
Jon has said they had made a lot of progress on the follow up hinting that it would be even edgier, is there any sign of a release date?

This album sounded very good for Anderson, who frankly didn't sound very good for quite awhile, while he was finding his voice, again, after being seriously ill. He talked about it at his live, solo shows, playing his three string strumming guitar ( the name escapes me ) hanging out in his garden, slowly but surely working on bringing his voice back.
Prior to this album, he hooked up with various songwriters and musicians online. Much of these isolated projects did not sound very good.
I believe the biggest complaint, or most brought up comment for those who don't think Jon is a god from the eighth dimension ;-), was this album was very "talky", and I would have to agree.

I started the thread about this at the old place, I do remember that something like 70 percent of peeps there rated it good and up and mostly Excellent.
I would agree with everything above, that it was too wordy, but it was exciting to see Jon make an album with one of the more recent prog hero's, and yeah the album had quite the vibe.
I would hope for a second venture where they were in the same room for a bit, or a least have some real time zoom collaboration.
And wait Rob, Jon is not from the eighth dimension ? How bout the 4th?

I had a DVD I exchanged, along with some other things, with Carlmarx, for some books, that was a Jon Anderson DVD, Chris. There was a section on it where he explained the Eighth dimension. I'm not buying it. Everyone, who is in the know, there about six of us, know there are only seven dimensions. :-)
