  • Jon Anderson Performing All Of CTTE

Looks like Jon and the kids are playing all of CTTE as well this upcoming tour.
The Cabot, which opened in December 1920, was built by The Ware Brothers and is one of only 250 historic vaudeville/movie palaces remaining in the U.S.
    Not on Yes' payroll.

Don't think there would be a market for that. You cannot pay the orchestra if you cannot get full houses

I have seen Jon with the kids. The show was real good. Musicians are no different that any other profession. The younger folks are generally more talented. Age takes a toll on everyone

Alan White was incredible in the 1970's. Today he can hardly play. The late Chris Squire was one of the greats of all time as a bassist in the 1970's. The last 10 years of his life he was just a shadow of his former self.

Wakeman is still quite good but could he do the AWBH live show solo that he did in 1990? No way!

Howe is still good. But is he the Howe of the 1970's? No way!

One of the indications of the decline in the musicianship of the classic 5 was how slower they played the music starting in the middle 1990's. This is very unlike Rush who to the end never lost the pace and intensity of the music in a live setting. This is 1 reason IMO Yes unlike Rush starting playing to less and less crowds

Jon A with anyone, or no one, is better than any permutation of Yes with Jon D.

Well, Jon is doing his own "Close to the Edge 50th anniversary tour" with kids from the Paul Green Rock Academy (a different branch from the School of Rock). It is actually billed that way. Looks like he's going to compete with Yes, although Jon's tour in the US is before Yes will do their tour of the US.

Heeeheeee Jon's graphic designer must be 'avin' a laugh. The "50" in the poster is the same Roger Dean calligraphy. Will Roger sue? 😉

OK. On further reflection spose they're different enough, by a bee's d*ck.

I've already said I've dumped my Yes tickets for the CTTE tour.

So, would I go and see Jon play it ?

                        Actually, I might.

I'm miffed. This JA CTtE is deliberate.

We used to have this sort of competition out here in the musical theatre community: Theatre A announces their season, which includes, say, INTO THE WOODS in August, with auditions in June. A week later Theatre B announces that their summer musical will be INTO THE WOODS, with performances in July, and auditions in May.

Performers audition for the first one, and the best actors are cast in THAT ONE, with the ones passed over auditioning for the next one. Obviously the first cast will likely be stronger. Audiences will go see the first one presented, and pass on seeing a different production of the same musical only a month later.

It's another passive/aggressive move from Jon. First it was ABWH, then it was ARW (or Yes feat.), now it's just JA performing the same album, Yes' most popular. Sure Yes/Howe could go back to Plan A and perform Relayer, but it's just shitty that they'd have to even consider being forced to change by outside forces.

I think you are reading too much into it. Why wouldn't Anderson want to celebrate and perform the band's most renowned album on its 50th anniversary regardless of Yes' plans? Yes' original plans for this year was Relayer up until March. There is room for both Yes and Anderson to celebrate the album on tour.
                            Not on Yes' payroll.
