  • Would Can You Imagine fit on FooW album?

Just finishing listening to Fish out of Water then put on Can You Imagine. Seems like it would have fit in well on that album with the orchestra.

I can totally hear it fitting on there if it was recorded alongside the rest of the album at the time. Obviously the Magnification version doesn't quite fit because the recording and production sounds so different, but imagining a FooW version I can totally see it.

Yes, I can imagine "Can You Imagine" on that album. But I think I'm still glad that it is where it is.

Well, I suppose Can You Imagine really belongs on the imaginary follow up to Drama or the XYZ project, as it was written later I assume. The version on Magnification, due to Chris singing lead and the orchestra, possibly does sound kinda Fish Out Of Watered. But the orchestration of Andrew Price Jackman sounds different from the orchestra on Magnification - it's more 'quaint', 'chamber' or documentary-ish (though I love the orchestration on it) as opposed to the Magnification orchestra which sounds more symphony or big blockbuster cinema. I guess the orchestra itself and not the vocals production or writing is what decides on what makes Can You Imagine a lost Fish Out Of Water track or no.

Sure it would fit, it’s short enough to squeeze into side 1 after You By My Side.
          🤨

Yes. Plus Run With The Fox also has that orchestrated, quaint (?) thing...

The Fish Out Of Water orchestral scores are way better than those on Magnification. I think Jackman had much, much more freedom.
