This is possibly the best Yes solo album, one I revisit every year and never get bored of it. Squire often said he was going to make another solo album but never did. I don't think he possibly could, this one is perfection. It was of its time and for all time at the same time.

Well, there is Chris Squire’s Swiss Choir! I suppose that doesn’t really count. Sadly when Andrew Pryce Jackman passed away in 2003 any chance of a proper sequel to FOOW was gone.

It seems like Chris was drawn to collaborating. Much like he had Andrew Pryce Jackman on FOOW, he had Billy Sherwood for Conspiracy and Steve Hackett for Squackett. I’m a fan of all of those, even if they aren’t as special or “progressive” as FOOW.

Swiss Choir may not count, it's not a solo album of original material. And all the other stuff like Conspiracy and Squackett are more of duo/collaboration 'projects' rather than solo albums or even bands. FOOW was a one-off. I love all those too. I always thought it would have been cool if he did one in the 80's, like 1986 - a solo album in the 90125/Generator/Asia/Esquire vein. Good harmony vox, maybe Alan on drums and some Toto guys or something.

Maybe it would be nice if someone put out a Chris Squire compilation, stuff he sang with Yes, solo etc.

          01 Hold Out Your Hand
          02 Wish I Knew - Conspiracy
03 Days Of Wonder - Conspiracy
04 Can You Imagine? - Yes
          05 1/2 A World Away - Conspiracy
          06 Aliens - Squackett
07 Man You Always Wanted Me To Be - Yes
08 Light In My Life - Conspiracy
          09 Can't Stop The Rain - Squackett
10 The Fish (live) - Yes
11 Telephone Secrets - bonus track
12 Run With The Fox - bonus track

no, I wouldn't include too much from FOOW - everyone should buy that separately.

Squire talked about a new solo album through much of the '90s, and that project was what eventually came out as Conspiracy. He talked again of doing a new solo album in the late 2000s, but that project stalled and some of the material ended up in Squackett. I think Squire was more comfortable/productive when working in collaboration ultimately.

Squire often started a solo album, but whatever he wrote got absorbed into a Yes album or some other project. If he was a little quicker at pumping out material, he may have had a few solo albums spread out throughout the years, but that wouldn't have been the Chris Squire we all love. I suppose he got around to stuff. But what there is of Chris' stuff is automatic listening for me, more so that any of the other 'pillar' members. His voice goes well with whatever other singers he works with - Anderson, Sherwood, Horn, Davison, Benoit, Steve Hackett or Steve Nardelli. He makes them all sound even better.

                  Agree.

Although a good chunk of Drama is like Yes do Buggles, I'd say a good chunk is a lot like Buggles and Howe/White do Squire. And from Drama (or even GFTO) on, I could make a mix of the Squire heavy Yes/Conspiracy/Squackett/Syn songs that make up what might have been a lot from his missing solo album(s).

That would be interesting to know which Squire tracks got absorbed into the collective and ended up as a Yes song. I know Parallels was written for FOOW but got held back for the next Yes album, GFTO. The Man You Always Wanted Me To Be I read was written with other Syn alumni with solo album or project in mind. Can You Imagine is another. I wonder what else?

This is an interesting way to make a mix. Here is what I have as my Squire heavy mix, but I'm sure Henry and Arno have some additional info:
                      Parallels
                      Onward
                      Future Times/Rejoice
                      OTSWOF
                      Tempus Fugit
                      Run Through The Light
                      Does It Really Happen
                      Leave It
                      It Can Happen
                      I'm Running
                      Lift Me Up
                      The More We Live
                      Love Conquers All
                      Real Love
                      Open Your Eyes
                      Fortune Seller
                      Red Light Ahead
                      Half A World Away
                      Man In The Moon
                      Mind Drive
                      Lightning Strikes
                      Give Love Each Day
                      Breaking Down Walls
                      Some Time, Some Way
                      Cathedral of Love
                      The Promise
                      Aliens
                      The Summer Backwards
                      Can't Stop The Rain
                      TMYAWMTB
                      Into The Storm
                      Gift of Love
                      The Game

These songs I hear Squire's writing influence pretty heavy or full on. I'm sure I might be wrong about some or forgot a few. But an interesting playlist I enjoy with Chris shinning brightly

I would include "For Everyone" for its long lead vocal by Chris, and of couse that became part of "Starship Trooper". And I really love it. 😋

Those are (mostly) Squire-heavy songs, but that wasn't quite Soundwaveseeker's question, which was on "Squire tracks [that] got absorbed into the collective and ended up as a Yes song". A lot of those Yes songs were by Squire, but were always intended for Yes. The exceptions there are material written for Mabel Greer's Toy Shop that was inherited by Yes (e.g. "Beyond & Before"); "Parallels", as discussed; material written for Cinema on 90125; material written with Sherwood were it wasn't necessarily clear whether the material would be for Yes initially ("The More We Live", "Love Conquers All") or where it was definitely intended for something else and folded into Yes ("Open Your Eyes", "Man in the Moon"); or material for a post-Syn solo project that ended up used by Yes ("The Man You...", "Gift of Love"/"The Game") or Squackett.

A few of those songs, I don't think Squire was that involved in writing them, although he made his mark in the arrangements. Syndestructible was largely written before Squire joined. I'm not certain "Give Love Each Day" was particularly Squire's. "Fortune Seller" was mainly Sherwood.

There's a lot of earlier Yes songs where Squire was a key writer: "Beyond and Before", "Looking Around", "Dear Father", "Perpetual Change", "ISAGP", "Heart of the Sunrise", "Sound Chaser" etc.

This album is so good that Squire simply could not make another. He was always, "Oh, I think I'll make another one next year" or something like that in interviews. But whatever he did ended up being used for Yes. Sure, he had Conspiracy, Squackett, a Christmas album. But no true second solo album. He never followed up FOOW. It outshines all or at least most other Yes solo endeavors. It was too good to be in any series of solo discography, it had to be the only one.

Now. Info? Chris Squire was a tall bass player with very big hands.

I'm interested. I'll give you 2 spondoolies for it.
