Mirror to the dang sky! Love the cover. Hope the tunes are good. Halcyon Hymns to me was still good/ok but a dip for me, wasn't into that set as much as the three previous ones. We'll find out. Could be the best one yet.
I love it! Gives me a great hit of positivity, and makes my brain and being go on a short journey the length of the song. I can’t ask for much more than that. Maybe it’s my age, and the daily grind and pressure, but this one little song makes me feel good. And I am certainly all about that, more than ever, now.
I have been listening to this since the gates were opened late last week. Unlike Halcyon Hymn's which had some really out there arrangements, musical coups which grabbed you straight away: overall this work is much more subtle and for me to form a relationship with it will take some time.
I am also taking specific tracks and getting to know them there is a lot of material here. I still prefer the 45 minute album (so does Trevor Horn). It's no coincidence that the length of an LP was the same length as a school lesson in the UK.
There is a lot to admire on repeated listening. This feels very much like a Christopher Braide solo project orchestrated by the Geoff Downes orchestra. I think thats because I am hearing a lot of generic guitar playing, a good deal of which reminds of Davey Johnstone indeed Heart Shaped Hole when Chris is not singing sounds very Elton John with the warm sympathetic organ playing. It is only the ride out which sounds a little like a DBA/Asia second time round moment.
