I do like the fact he seems to try and capture the essense of the sounds used on the albums. Rick always seemed to use the latest snazzy synth sound to replace the classic moog/mellotron/hammond sounds, and surely we want the music to sound like the music.

Geoff has his off sound moments too. One time when I saw them live and they played Machine Messiah Downes was all wrong. He was using sounds that were not like the ones used on the original track and they lacked the bite and menace of the originals.
