So in the review section of my newspaper there was this story of a band called SUNN O)))...
I give you some translated bits:
"One moment the wall of guitar amps is silent, the next moment the air breaks like a collossal iceberg. Frozen sound, so low (20 to 60 Hertz frequency) and loud (120 decibel) that it attacks your body.
One continuous drone, 100 minutes long.
This is where the definition of music becomes irrelevant, where there is no melody or rhythm."

Maybe now you understand why I have no desire to check this out.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
And this 'band' has been around for 25 years.
Now to go and see this as a one time experience I could maybe imagine in theory. But buying their albums, presuming these exist?

I haven't been this shocked since John Cage's silent composition back in, whenever it was.
Oh and the reviewer gave them 4 out of 5 stars.

Is the world crazy? Am I crazy?

I mean, they're not for everyone, but some of their stuff has been utterly fascinating to me. Then again I enjoy ambient and drone-y type things. The stuff they did with Scott Walker especially.

Saw a lady at the store today with a The Wu, concert shirt on. I had to ask her about it. A band with a name shorter than YES. That is rare sighting indeed.

She was one hardcore rocker. Few months ago when I was outside I ran into an 80 something year old woman who I think was wearing a UFO shirt. A hardcore fan and into it.

Turns out The Wu is the Mongolian, chanting/throat singing Heavy Metal band most good may have seen on YouTube.

Fair enough! i dont go on rollercoasters full stop. only time i blacked out, including a major road accident on my bicycle as a teenager, was on a loop the loop coaster in Ohio!
