How can it be that AI can make photo realistic images of people's faces and then gives them three legs or hands with six fingers? How hard is it to count?

A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) digests and regurgitates information, but calling it "intelligent" is misguided. It doesn't "think", any more than a paint mixer thinks.

It mixes, melds, combines, even creates associations, but it cannot be wise, discerning, clever, or have epiphanies. It certainly doesn't care if it makes mistakes (misshapen limbs, extra fingers, impossible contortions). It can't "care".

But when it mixes up faces, it doesn't add an eye or two, but when it mixes hands extra fingers just pop up?

Actually, I HAVE seen examples of when it messes up faces. Sometimes it's a bit of facial distortion, occasionally eyes are wonky. I've seen AI-generated faces where the glasses are only half there.

Or if you ask it to draw "Donald Duck hosting a TED Talk".
