Yeah, only a handful, I would say. Genesis, Heart, Aerosmith...

Yeah, the 80s were a drought in terms of trying to find any oasis of music.

Personally, I think that the eleven years between 1965 and 1975 were prime real estate for excellent music. Rock started losing its way around 1976, then Punk and Disco happened.

There were bright spots amongst the dross of the 1980s though.

And for all those bands, including 2 of my favourite ever bands, Yes and Rush, their 80's albums were not a patch on their 70's albums. Reasons - changing their artistic vision for commercial gain, horrible sounding 80's instruments and production, big hair! But that's a whole other debate!!

Really? I loved bands like Magazine, early Simple Minds, etc. who seeemd like a postpunk version of prog. for me it's the 90s were the bad period for music

Hello. Yes, I also like Simple Minds, U2, Queen, Simply Red Depeche Mode and others. But my friends in the 80s listened to Duran Duran and music like this. Not my cup of tea. I agree with you: 90s and so on were the worst period.

Its interesting the group that is the biggest - I wonder how many of those came in during the Yeswest period. The fans that would have been say 15 in 1975 would be in the 60 and up range.
