BIG rumour for 2009

I have a friend who works backstage at the Sovereign Center in Reading. He was fortunate enough to be there and working last night. He overheard a couple members of the Yes crew talking about a possible tour for next year. They said that talks are under way for a tour consisting of Asia, ELP and Yes. Sounds real good to me, although I seem to remember reading that ELP weren't getting along to well?

I can't see Steve playing 2 shows?
or Carl?
Maybe Yes and ELP?
I've heard that rumor for years.

It would pump up the star power. Tickets would be over a hundred bux for the cheap seats. I'm in Denver, Yes isn't going past the Mississippi this year, so I'll keep my hopes up for something next year.

Tickets at the Hammerstein (NYC) were $123 a pop and not even on the floor. (But worth it, IMO.)

Re: BIG rumour for 2009

I'll pay, I'll pay. How about a Rock Family Tree Concert? Get the entire Yes tree together, play all their best stuff, let the guys who were a part of the groups join in and finish up together, maybe Starship trooper. A hall of fame plea, if you will. The Dave Clark Five are in and Yes isn't?Can you spell justice in there?

Re: BIG rumour for 2009

I never liked going to a yesshow when there were other bands with them. The yes part of the show always seems short to me.

When yes is in the house... yes is all you need.

Asia and yes together I think would be to much for steve. I have seen steve when he is tired. You can hear it in his playing when he is tired.

Re: BIG rumour for 2009

I thought about starting a rumour that Led Zeppelin was talking to David Hasselhoff about filling in for Bob Plant. There would be a need for some Depends on that bus ride.
Que up that John Belushi scene from Animal house after reading.Where's my pirate costume?

Re: BIG rumour for 2009

Apparently all three of these bands want to get back to playing arena shows and this combo would definately fill them up. You figure with all three on the same bill each setlist would be shorter so Steve and Carl might be able to pull it off.

Well if it is a rumour it's a great one!

I'm thinking three bands of that caliber could each pull off an amazing set if they didn't have the burden of the entire show on one band.

I'd love to see it.

Re: BIG rumour for 2009

Obvious questions: Which Yes? Would Jon Anderson, Benoit David or a singer to be named later handle the vocals? Would Rick or Oliver Wakeman play keyboards or would Geoff Downes double down?

They should get a bunch of the best prog bands and do a few huge outdoor PROG festivals next summer!

PROG CITY TOUR 09'
King Crimson
Rush
Yes

THIS would draw with just these 3... But you could always throw in Circa and ELP and make it an ALLdayer!
