I thought Benoit did a decent job when we saw him here in Chicago. My wife thought he was excellent, but I felt there was a huge gap and that gap was Mr. Anderson not being present. I think Benoit said some really nice things in his radio interview about Jon taking time to get healthy and the kid has a great set of pipes. Of course now Chris is down and will need time as well...I also think it was great of the band to be able to play finally some of the essential classic tracks from Drama, in particular Machine Messiah. I just wish the band hadn't changed the setlist dumping Parallels and Soon for the horrid OOALH...it was great to hear Onward as well the early track Astral Traveller which was fantastic! I think if the band had played more less known works on this tour it would have gone over better because the bulk of the material would have been stuff that Jon had not sung in some time or refused a la Drama. Play all of Drama, Silent Wings, Future Times/Rejoice, Release, Release, Parallels, Sound Chaser, To Be Over, Survival, Dear Father, Perpetual Change, etc. instead of AYAI for the millionth time. Throw CTTE in there for Benoit who sings that whole album quite well. This would have really pleased the die hards like myself who were ecstatic when we finally got to hear stuff like Mind Drive and Don't kill the Whale live in the early 2000's tours. I also remember hearing somewhere where Chris thought this lineup should record with Benoit and I think that's a total mistake and will just add to the confusion for the band's fans in regard to Jon whom we see as the vocal and spiritual leader. I mean Chris' Aliens song was dreadful - just being honest - there's a reason Jon's the lyricist.
They should all get healthy and go back into the studio and put something together with Rick and then go out and for whatever dates Rick can't make - because I think he can no longer tour for that length of time - have Oliver play. If Oliver is willing to do this. There is a weird checks and balances system within the band and when those five are together its something special - the last real band album was the keys sessions which produced the best thing they've done since Awaken - Mind Drive...at this point with Chris down for a bit they should take some time and recharge the batteries. Get Jon back on board and move from there.

Jon is like a God to me and can never be replaced. Benoit is doing well,better than anyone else I could imagine on performing Jon's work.
I await the return of Jon but will enjoy listening to Benoit until that is possible.
He's the only one who can really stand up & do a decent job trying to match Jon's Angelic Voice. Good luck to him and the rest of YES! I feel that this latest tour line-up will be good enough to give me a good YES fix even without Jon being present?Enjoy the music while you can. We're all getting older and there's only so many more YES days left.

I haven't missed a YES concert since they came to the U.S., but I still haven't seen Benoit take Jon's place. This is going to be freaky for me tomorrow. To me, JON IS YES. I know the deal with what's going on with him, but I just can't help it.....I'm from the "Old School YES" line up. I'll give Benoit credit for replacing the most amazing voice in music....JON.

As far as Benoit is concerned, a limousine pulled up and he jumped in. You can't fault him for that.

There are two shows in Chicago. I have tickets for one, and may go to both.

To manage this, so that my extreme disappointment in Jon not being there, is that I will refrain from listening to any Yes until the concerts.

That is the only way I can go with an open mind.

We all know this.

I'm not going to swing one statue against the other to see which is the strongest statue.

I LOVE YES.

And whatever they are doing at any particular time, I'm going to go with that.

Jon is The Stuff. I LOVE the hell out of Jon. He's my hero.

Benoit is the man who is singing with the band right now. He's amazing.

We are lucky.

I think Benoit is at best a good Stand-In for Jon but he's not the Real Deal like Jon Is.
I'm not cutting Benoit down, I'm just a true believer that noone can fill Jon's shoes. Benoit is as close as they come but look at all you're really missing without Jon.
Jon Is The Signature Voice of YES as Chris is on Bass! There is no Real replacement for either.
I do feel Jon is being Diss'd by them, planning a summer tour without him. That's unfair to Jon if he's willing to perform. Maybe he doesn't want to? Then all the power to benoit but Jon should be 1st choice, of course.
