My wifes family are from that wee island , we used to go there on holiday every year till we moved further across the big pond a few years ago. Miss the tranquilty that the island has especially when I compare it to the vast , busy city that Toronto is.

Beautiful place Barra , although weather can be a bit iffy.

Never had the pleasure of visiting the Outer Hebrides (yet!), but I'll make it one day. Got a mate who lives in Lochmaddy on North Uist, but I've yet to get up there - just see him when he's down in Glasgow. Been to a few islands though, Mull, Iona, Tiree, further up in Orkney and a few others. All are wonderful and have there own individual character.
Oops, getting a bit nostalgic there, sorry for the off-topic reminiscing!
Btw, no such thing as bad weather in these places - just the wrong type of clothing!

Once spotted a wee bit of a car bumper sticking out of the sand on Barra and, after a few hours digging, I found a complete Ford Anglia van!

Buried treasure!

Sailing back from Barra was also the scariest crossing I've ever had in my life. Made the North Sea and the Bay of Biscay seem like millponds!

Staying on the off-topic theme :-), and buried treasure. Did you read about that guy with the metal detector who found 4 Iron Age gold bracelets worth £1m. Apparently he only had the detector 1 day, and he found them about 6 steps from his car, when he started treasure hunting. Something really fishy about that...???

The Scottish YES Network gathering will be at the Hilton Grosvenor Hotel at Haymarket, beginning at 4pm until around 6.30/7ish. The Hotel is right next to Haymarket station. (15 minute walk to Usher Hall)
The band have kindly agreed to meet us there. I would expect the band to only be there for an hour or so, but which hour, I don't know. :-)

I have 24 SYN names, and would invite Yesfans to join us. I am happy to call it a SYN / Yesfans gathering. :-)

At the moment - I am working out the cost of a Meeting Room with the Hotel. I am expecting to charge around £6 to cover costs. Kids would be free.

Here are the SYN names. I am publishing these to avoid any duplication, as I know some of them are also on Yesfans.
