Icon12 Re: Benoit David is Destroying YES and its Legacy

Oh my, I think I'm one of the last to post here. I guess that happens when I'm away from Yesfans for some time!

I also agree that Red has it all wrong; not meaning I agree with all the prior posts but Benoit is there because Chris, Steve and Alan want him there..it is not him to decide to step aside and get all four band members into one room, bad strategy my friend. That is something that will be dictated by themselves and only by the four.

Benoit is not destroying anything, he is only one more to carry the torch in the long history of Yes. And that makes him a keeper of the Legacy, not someone with an ego and unaware of his role in the band.

OK, he is no longer an "understudy" but he and the other current Live members have a mission to accomplish and when this World tour is over, they will move into the next Chapter of their rich history and I'm sure it will be a good one. More albums, more tours? Who knows...

Benoit has Mystery and all of them know where he stands as they know that Jon is doing better and will rejoin in time, it may take months or a year but the "present" is for all of us to enjoy and not bicker.

No surprise that such an obnoxious tirade should come from ignorance.

Tell ya what -
I DARE you to go see Benoit performing anywhere, with any band, and walk up to him and say what you wrote here.
I'd bet anything you couldn't do it.

Sod off.

As JaneE said, don't buy an album or see them if that's the way you feel.

And as far as whether or not this band is Yes -
speak for yourself.

Oh, and shame on YOU!
Amen.

Re: Benoit David is Destroying YES and its Legacy

In my 3 or 4 years on Yesfans, this is easily the least intelligent and most egocentric thread I've seen.

First, this has been discussed ad naseum in multiple threads. Your opinion is no more valid than anyone else's, and in fact it is LESS so because you are a newbie. Starting yet another thread on the same topic is nothing more than self-aggrandizing gorilla chest-beating.

Second, your thread's title is moronic in that Benoit is doing nothing more than performing a job he was ASKED to do by others. He is ruining nothing, and in fact I - and tens of thousands of others - enjoyed his performances in the past year, especially in contrast with Anderson's non-performances during the past 5 years.

Finally, get up to date on your Yes history - in particular what went on from 2004 to 2008 - before you start barfing all over your shirt and embarrassing yourself. But to clue you in quickly, Anderson quit the band in 2004, sold off his share in Yes LLC, broke promises 3 years in a row to rejoin, refused to make another album even though all other Yes men including Wakeman wanted to, then demanded he be paid more than the others for the CttEaB tour. It was only after all that he got sick. To quote myself, "Just because Anderson plays a harp doesn't mean he's an angel." This isn't the first time Howe Squire and White have tired of Anderson's behavior; he was FIRED after Tormato, although as is always Yes policy with fired band members, Anderson was allowed to say he quit.

So chill out, read and learn, and please post only when you have something original and intelligent to say.

'It's' is either a contraction of 'it is' or 'it has'. I was using 'it's' in the possessive sense, which is not kosher.

He destrying a good Yes kickacy, and his own leg. Seems to be doing fine onstage though, in some poor old guy with health issues absense.

PS. I've never used the word "kickacy" before, and have now used it twice in two minutes. That's three times now!
