    Neil Finn joins Fleetwood Mac

Crowded House main member and possibly Lennon/McCartney standard songwriter has been recruited to replace the very wonderful Lindsey Buckingham, who has 'left'.

Saddened, stunned but kind of excited...

LB probably wants to just do his solo stuff apparently. I saw a live concert of he and his band before all the last FM push and they were incredible... Maybe better than FM!

Neil Finn is very talented, should be interesting!

There's also a rumor Mike Campbell might be recruited...it's 1987 all over again!
(lol where have we heard that before)

The speculation I'm apt to buy is that Liddy Buck wants to tour behind another FM album - and granted that is likely never to happen again - and Mick drew the line in the sand saying, "If you're out then we'll replace you (again)."

Neil Finn is a terrific songwriter - but this is weird. Neil Finn/Crowded house and Fleetwood Mac seem to come from very different places in music.

I always found the Lindsay Buckingham-aspects the really important ones in that Fleetwood Mac, followed by some drops of Christine McVie.

Fan of Neil Finn since about 30 years... also one ambitious producer/arranger/composer with a sense for intricate harmonies.

Variety has reported Lindsey was fired...and I'm reading various things about how there's been trouble all year (besides the long-running problems), it's really too bad. I mean, FM is a hot mess when it comes to interpersonal relationships but if only they could have hung on one more year to bow out gracefully. It was clear to me that Lindsey and Stevie would never record together again but it seemed like they could at least tour without killing each other. Buckingham McVie was meant to be a FM record but Stevie did not want to participate.

ETA: I guess it's official regarding Mike as well now.

It's difficult to say if this will be something which goes beyond the immediate tour. But if so, I hope it would be better than Behind The Mask.

Then why not make it without her? She's not an original member and her voice is shot anyways. Or just get a singer from a tribute, couldn't be any worse.

Re: Neil Finn joins Fleetwood Mac

I get the line of your reasoning but in actuality Stevie is the core of their touring life. And as we know, tours make money.

I also have a feeling that they can't - contractually - release a Fleetwood Mac album if she's not on it. Hence why BuckVie was a Fleetwood Mac album in every way but the name.

Wow, interesting if Buckingham was fired. He isn't so much the type to fire... he had the biggest influence on what FM was since 75, apart from some clunkers like Behind The Mask. Not impossible of Course, might have been really personal not so much musical Problems.

You'd think, but...and granted, I'm a fan of Stevie's but if she refuses to work with Lindsey at all now, then the writing's on the wall. She has the power. However, I think he'll be much happier this way.

Yea, but another sad ending to yet another great band full of ego and bitterness.

I would like to hear what FM+Finn/Campbell would create for sure! See them perform old FM songs? Not so much... Kind of like ARW! imho
