Ever since first hearing Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe I have though this 'dawn' section would be perfect for opening a Yes concert.....

    I like them opening with
    1) Also Sprach Zaratustra - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASoPEENWJzw
    2) The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra into Close Encounters of the Third Kind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9CTLyAdAJs
    3) Close Encounters of the Third Kind - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS3UFBRljYw
    4) Rites of Spring - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHppSlIXH-g
    5) Fly From Here intro - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOG084So1wQ
    6) Perpetual Change intro - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HavPfjrVnDc
    7) Apocalypse - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfuXip2ISOY

So many options. Mix it up and change it from show to show.

Firebird Suite and Young Person's Guide (alone) have been overplayed to death as an opener

Maybe they could open with the beginning of Close to the Edge?

How about no intro music at all.

Just walk on, plug in, then "Hello, we're Yes. Tonight we have Mr Patrick Moraz joining us on keyboards. This is is called Sound Chaser"

Sometimes in music, the songs can transcend the band members themselves - I think Yes is such a band.

That's kinda been done to death in popular media, though. But I agree that some kind of change would be interesting.

Yeah, but they used the Young Person's Guide as an intro first...

In 2001 they played Close To The Edge as an opener too, after the orchestra played the intro to Give Love Each Day. (Yes trivia fact- these dates were the only ones I ever saw where Chris Squire came on stage first - he played along with the orchestra)

^^I think it worked great, CTTE that is, as an opening song on the Symphonic tour. Not so much unfortunately on the 2014 Three Albums tour.

Maybe my memory is playing tricks with me - I was at a fair few UK 2014 shows and I was sure that's what they did. Oh well, some days I can't remember what happened yesterday!

Edit - Checked my audio from the shows - The intro was actually The Firebird, then Close to the Edge

Yeah the Symphonic Tour version made a good opener, some nights it was a little bit slow (unfortunately including the night culled for the DVD) but it had a lot of power.

Agreed, by Summer 2014 they started their shows with CTTE (album) in reverse order, starting with Siberian...that seemed to work out much better!

I agree... Yes is special, they need a grand entrance.... it's prog... using dry ice and lasers would be even better... having midgets in elf costumes bringing the instruments out to the band would really be cool, then having them float away by using cables... prog at it's best.

Yes has never used a water fountain display behind the stage yet...you know, vegas style... that could be cool, water dancing to yes music.... it's super corny but I would love it... I can see Jon loving it and Trevor being embarrassed while it was in use, if they did. :)

if anything... my favorite opening so far was the close encounters opening during the Tormato tour... if I had my way for the 50th.... it would be the Firebird into close encounters into Starship trooper to open a show.

    still undefined
