    Squire tribute Album

Hot off the press from Billy

Working on the Chris Squire tribute record.... sounding great !!! Thought I'd put a lil sitar on the remake of "The More We Live" which was the 1st song Chris and I wrote together. Because of that fact I thought the song deserved a place on this record. There are 2 nice solo spots, Steve Hackett plays the 1st solo section and Steve Porcaro plays the second solo section.

Maybe he can persuade Steve to use it on the next album.
    Why? Because I want it.

Presumably Phil Collins has it if he hasn’t lost it.

Hopefully he finds some crowd noise clip with someone yelling "Chris" instead of "Steve"

    Re: Squire tribute Album

You know, just that one song- "The More We Live"- is going to have current or former members of three of my favorite bands- Yes, Genesis, and Toto playing on it. Pretty cool. :) Actually, Billy and Jay have both been in Asia as well as Yes, so we could add that as a fourth band.

I know Billy was talking about a neat new part or technique he had written or was going to use on for this song as well.

Jon Davison has been mentioned as singing on a different song, and several members of Kansas were talked about without any specific names or songs being attached to that report.

As tribute albums go, this sounds like it could be a pretty good one.

Anyone heard anything about a possible label and/or release date?

One name that comes to mind as someone I'd like to hear on the album is Carl Palmer, simply because he's the last living member of ELP, and they and Yes had kind of a friendly rivalry in the press in the early 70s. Add that to the guy they already have from Genesis, and that would mean members of the biggest bands in British prog rock from when Yes first really hit it big all paying tribute to Squire. Then Kansas from the later 70s American prog scene (Though it may be newer members), and the Toto guy from the 80s pop-rock scene (Something Yes was also a part of)... and who knows how many others from how many other times, places, and styles. :) ).

One day it'd be neat if Sherwood could get someone from Chicago (the band) to guest star on one of these albums where he brings together lots of special guests. I've alaays thought it'd be interesting to hear those guys be part of some Yes or Yes type music. Its also occurred to me that a joint tour with Yes and Chicago would be a pretty cool two for one.

Looking forward to the songs and musicians who will appear! Would be cool to release this with some sort of Squire's actual greatest hits on CD2..?

Yeah Billy was under strict instructions not to lose Phil's number! terrific idea of a tribute album and I hope the guys in Yes(f) are included . I'd love to hear Rick plat on something like 'Astral Traveler' or 'Then' or something
