    New Steve Howe interview

Here's a link to my epic new Rock Square interview with Steve Howe about the past, present, and future of Yes (including his unvarnished thoughts on Relayer, Tales from Togographic Oceans and overlooked recent albums). I also asked him what he really thought of the movie Avatar...

    http://www.rocksquare.com/community/...edartists/2030

I previously conducted an epic interview with Trevor Rabin for Rock Square last year: http://www.rocksquare.com/community/featuredartists/475

    Enjoy!

His comments about TFTO, Relayer, The Ladder and Magnification are very exciting, but I won't hold my breath.

I have to admit I'm positively giddy at the prospect -- however speculative on Howe's part -- of hearing Sound Chaser, To Be Over, RSOG or Ritual live.

That struck me as well. A bit of a thaw, hopefully, but a great interview all around. Thanks!

    Nice interview!

I do hope what Steve more or less says will become true; more stuff from the recent past and some more obscure stuff in the setlists for the coming years!

SC is a non-starter, IMHO. They've slowed tempos on too many songs already; that track, which owes a lot to the contributions of Patrick Moraz, is frenetic by design. They simply aren't capable of that one. But bring on TBO!!!

Yeah. He must've been flashing back to when Benny used to point his acoustic guitar like a gun during the intro.

    TERRIFIC interview!

I especially liked the Avatar/Roger Dean stuff at the end.

Yea, not digging how he is NOT exited about a new album and so timid about new music with YES. What happened to the guy that did TFTO and Relayer, the adventurous explorer of new musical worlds??

At least he mentioned maybe doing TBO and SC... :)

    Re: New Steve Howe interview

Now that's how to do an interview !

I take from that that we can look forward to hearing Tales, Relayer, The Ladder, Magnification, Key studio and the new album on the 2014 tour.

Should be a five to six hour gig !

    Thanks for posting the interview.

I'm not holding my breath that Yes will play the obscure tracks mentioned, but it's nice to hear that Steve has love for them . . .

That is a least a good sign! The fans DO like the obscure tracks and I bet the average Joe at a Yes concert may too!

NOW, somebody get Steve a LARGE cup of coffee and a joint and start writing some new music for the next YES album!!!

    Re: New Steve Howe interview

Excellent interview! I also noticed the warmer thoughts towards JA. Perhaps not actually being around him makes Howe more appreciative of Jon. :)

This interview confirmed for me that Howe's reservation about doing a new album is down to him wanting it to be something special and not just a basic collection of songs. I think Steve may be going about that wrong, however. In my experience, you have to just start working on it, and if something special is lurking in there, it'll come out.

As much as I'd love to see a Tales/Relayer tour, that's a whole lot of complex music they haven't played much in a long time, beyond the question of whether they still have the stamina to tackle parts of it.
