2013: TFTO's 40th Anniversary, should it be celebrated?!

Since it was brought up in the 90125 30th anniversary thread/poll:

Next year, 2013, is the 40th Anniversary of Tales from Topographic Oceans, which was no matter whether one likes it or not, a landmark in Yes history. Now these days acts often celebrate and album's anniversary by releasing a special edition or boxset and do a tour where the (bigger part of the) album is the central piece in the setlist (like for instance Asia and Peter Gabriel are doing currently).

Should Yes celebrate this 40th anniversary of TFTO?

    Nice idea.

Not sure how, as the most recent version of it that I have,
a Japanese SHM-CD pressed using the Rhino master, sounds outstanding.

Can't see how that could be improved upon, other than some kind of high-res format remix, eg., SACD.,
which as my son gleefully points out, is a "dead format"!

Well, now that you mention it, it IS the 20th Anniversary of Symphonic Yes

    and

the 10th Anniversary of Acoustic Yes (Disc 3 of The Ultimate Yes 35th Anniversary Collection)

Shouldn't they celebrate those as well?

I have both the Tales and the GFTO mirrors. Someone broke the original GFTO one but I was gifted the other two by Ed Sciaky's wife Judy after he passed...

I think so. We're talking 2013 here, right?

According to my list of Yes-ish stuff in my iTunes, the following albums were released in 1993:

Highlights - The Very Best of Yes
    Symphonic Music Of Yes
    The Grand Scheme of Things
    (Steve Howe)
An Evening of Yes Music Plus (ABWH)

Rick Wakeman released six albums in 1993:

    Wakeman with Wakeman
    Heritage Suite
    No Expense Spared
    Prayers
    The Classical Connection II
Unleashing The Tethered One - The 1974 North American Tour

It must be odd seeing a naked man's bum every time you look in the mirror.

Re: 2013: TFTO's 40th Anniversary, should it be celebrated?!

The Tales anniversary should be celebrated as much as possible. A special tour seems unlikely, but a cracking idea!
A box set would do just fine, too. There are several possible extras that would be highly desirable, including:

    * live recordings from the 73-74 tour (never released on any live album)
    * some outtakes/early versions that don't include any of the finished version (as was the case with the "run-throughs").
    * Jon and Steve's original demos. They played them to the band, and Rick stormed out. Steve definitely has that tape.
    * and of course, the concert film. There was recently a little nugget of news about that: An uploader on Dime aquired an upgrade to the Going For The One sessions DVD, via an intermediary. According to the intermediary, the source/owner of the GFTO DVD was also in possession of a pro-shot film of the 1974-02-28 show in Detroit. Another uploader revealed that an aquaintance of his also had it. They could be talking about the same person, but at least one copy of the movie seems to actually be out there. There's no indication they have any intention of sharing or selling it at the moment, but its confirmed existence makes it more likely to surface at some point.

At least some of those items have to be in the package for me to buy it. Simply releasing a new remaster/audio format won't do.

No, but I want one now. Is it rude to ask how much you paid for that? Tried ebay just now, but no luck, guess they're pretty rare.
