    Foamless memories into the sea

Nights are cold on this tug boat
I sit alone and wack one off
Locked on the waves, caught in the stream
    Falling slowly into the beans

    Every day that you tug
Is one more that you've lost
    When you break ground
    I'll tug you there
    On display
Lights the final pull from no return
    Tugging us there from here

And we can float from here..

Re: Cruise to the Edge with YES

On the cruise FB page the organizer made this comment:

"Night after night we have pondered.... Who do we announce first to join YES on "Cruise To The Edge"... it all feels like a dream."

Following which someone suggested this might hint towards one of the following ... UK, Tangerine Dream, or Dream Theater. The organizer replied that he might be on to something. If it were UK, wouldn't it also be likely that Asia will play?

Thanks for sharing this article, Henry. Of course Weezer are a different kettle of fish, but the article does at least paint an attractive picture that can't be a million miles from what a passenger on the Yes cruise might expect.

Re: Cruise to the Edge with YES

It sounds real enticing. I'd obviously want more info, like how many performances will YES do. Saw someone post #s re ship capacity and theatre capacity, and that wasn't encouraging. If YES is playing three nights, I (and I'm sure everyone else) will want to see them perform three nights.

If it were simply a question of money, I'm sure I'd find some way to rationalize spending money on this cruise rather than funding an IRA for the year. Although I doubt any of my family or friends would want to go, and rates for single quarters would be a lot higher than shared quarters.

But ... I'm really not fond of boats and the open water (or flying ... or trains for that matter). I like to ... keep my "feet on the earth, it is green" (Arriving UFO).

If I won a cruise trip with YES, I could maybe get past my irrational fear of the open water. But to get past that AND spend lots of money ... I think I'll save the money and if it doesn't go to an IRA, it'll fund some great seats for a bunch of shows for the next year or two.

The right way to do this would be to have
1st night Nektar opening for Anderson and Wakeman
2nd night nektar opening for YES
3rd night split stage between Anderson and Wakeman and YES, couple of songs each and unified finale.

Do you? Do you? Eh? Because if you do you're just letting Hitler win. Plus your football team will still be rubbish, you'll make the Baby Jesus cry, and this little kitten will drown. And that's a fact."

Wow! I really can't believe this line-up, Malcolm. This sounds like a FANtastic time indeed! :-)

I just don't think I will be able to get off work during the scheduled cruise time if attempting to take this same time period off earlier this year is any indication. We will have to see. Even the wife has some interest in the cruise part anyway and my daughter should be on Spring Break from school. Maybe if I claim I'm an oppressed minority or claim I need a religious sabbatical, I'll get the time off. ;-)

Some folks like the sound of this. What's the point in pissing in their cornflakes, so to speak? And to a lot of folks, Yes is "this once famous band." Different strokes for different folks.

If I wasn't being forced to used my accrued Paid Personal Leave during a company shutdown between Christmas and New Year's, I'd actually consider going. A nice warm cruise after a long New England winter.....you betcha! Add some classic Yes tunes and a couple of margaritas...sounds like heaven.
When this first appeared on FACEBOOK there was almost an immediate bunch of the same people coming out if the woodwork to do just that...pissing in public!

Zebra was a BIG surprise--which I'm incredibly happy about, because (for a variety of reasons) it means I'm now going on the cruise! I for one think it's going to be incredible. I really can't think of a better way to spend spring break than with some of my favorite bands!!!
Yesshows: 3-12-11 (Rite of Spring, Orlando), 7-15-11 (Fly From Here, Orange Beach), 7-28-12 (Fly From Here, St. Augustine)

Some fairly recent footage of this ship on a recent cruise. A little smaller than I expected.

Not that there's the slightest chance that I could have gone, but it's getting less and less attractive anyway. Instead of a bunch of varied Yes shows (a couple of different setlists and maybe an acoustic thing - yeah, unlikely I know) we are looking at maybe one ordinary Yes show and a bunch of other bands that I couldn't give a fig about or have never heard of. They well may be O.K. but it's certainly not what I'd want from a 'Yes cruise'...

I'm afraid that will probably always remain a dream given Tangerine Dream were angry that the film makers brought Anderson in without their consent or knowledge to turn their instrumental piece into "Loved by the Sun".

Doesn't necessarily have to be that way. On a cruiseship entertainment isn't confined to just the evening. There can be shows in the afternoon as well, there are several decks and rooms etc. Having a couple of other acts on board doesn't necessarily mean less playing time for Yes.

I do hope a more detailed program, like for instance on the Moodycruise page, will appear soon.

    http://cruisetotheedge.com/dev/whats-included

The Moody Blues will play two concerts and do one Q&A. Likely the programm for the Yes cruise will be in the same vein as the Moody cruise programm.
