    Best trio of songs.

Many here say Close To The Edge is the best Yes song, but the album vs. Relayer. What is the strongest trio of songs?

    Re: Best trio of songs.

This is an incredibly difficult choice for me due to the fact that over the years there have been various times when I've favoured one album over the other. It changes constantly. Currently it's CTTE but next week/month/whatever it may well be Relayer again. Subsequently, as there is no multiple choice (LOL!), I find it impossible to vote on this one!

Same here. I voted for Relayer mainly because it was my first Yes album. Sentimental reasons...

I have no idea what to vote for.

My perfect trio of songs for a Yes album would be Gates of Delirium on one side and both Heart of the Sunrise and Awaken on the other. Thoughts?

    Yes, it is.

But it's simply a reminder of the music on each, I guess.

I'm going with Relayer. I love all three songs on that album. I find SK from CTTE to occasionally get a little irritating at times.

Funny how the vote is 70-30 in favour of Relayer and the band has only managed to march out Soon since 2001. I think the sound achieved on Relayer was far superior to the Close to the Edge studio reording. Gates of Delerium is by far their best full side number with Soon a tremendous ending. And You and I might be the best song they ever wrote with To be Over a close second. Relayer is unique because of the jazz influence and the one-off of Patrick Moraz. Tom Brislin did such a fabulous job doing the keyboard parts in 2001. It is Relayer standing at the top that makes Drama and Yes West sound ordinary and commercial by comparison.

I think the mix on Close To The Edge is far superior. All three tracks sparkle. I consider Close To The Edge and And You and I as my top two best Yessongs. Siberian Khatru is also top ten, but I also think To Be Over is an underrated classic that never gets played. Gates of Delerium is an ambitious piece that is full of sonic wonders and virtuoso playing, and it does resolve with the lovely Soon. I don't care for Sound Chaser so much, always seemed a bit of a gimmick and probably my least favorite Steve Howe guitar solo on the credenza part.

I agree, except I think Drama is a very unique album as well!

Couldn't vote on this poll if I wanted to because I really like both equally.

A long time ago when I was 16 or 17, I borrowed my neighbor's time and
expensive stereo to make a top quality cassette recording with CTTE on side1
    and Relayer on side 2.

I still have that tape and it still sounds great!
Both sources were from the original vinyls.

    (My neighbor loved the music...BTW!)
