Has he? I'd missed that. He joked about "Owner of a Horse and Cart", but then he jokes about most things. He has been willing to play on numerous songs in the Anderson Wakeman set that he didn't originally.
But I still struggle to imagine that any YesWest song would benefit from added Wakeman.

I hope that this happens. I still put the odds at 50% at best. Rabin is busy. Anderson and Wakeman can be flakey. We will see. I think Rabin's involvement will make the project more cutting edge and interesting to be sure. I am not putting much value on the Something Else story.
I think that on any new music AND live versions of older Yeswest material we can expect more than the Rabin arrangements - on the shorter 'popsongs' a bit of a keyboard solo on some, and on any longer pieces a more thorough rearrangement.
No point having Wakeman there and burying him...
Soon oh soon the light, Pass within and soothe this endless night, And wait here for you, Our reason to be here...
I always thought it was interesting that Rick took a synth solo at the end of "Owner of Lonely Heart" on the Union tour. It seemed to reinforce the blending/combining of the ABWH and YesWest factions, since Rick obviously didn't play on the original version. Yet at the same time seemed rather odd since "Owner" is pretty much the archetypical YesWest song. It was only later that I read about how both Trevor and Rick have said that they'd like to work together, so the Union tour was really their only chance to do something together. Until now, perhaps.
Trevor wanted Rick to play on Talk (which couldn't happen because of contractual obligations). I think that this could ultimately be a really nice project.
Let the talk about Union 2 commence!

26/10/77 (Wembley); 26/10/78 (Wembley); 14/12/80 and 16/12/80 (Hammersmith); 11/7/84 and 12/7/84 (Wembley); 8/12/87 (Montreal); 23/8/89 (ABWH - Ottawa); ... The Wilderness Years ...; 16/6/04 (Wembley); 17/11/09 (Hammersmith); 17/11/11 (Hammersmith); 26/3/13, 27/3/13 and 29/3/13 (Cruise to the Edge)
I thought they'd worked out the contractual issues re: Wakeman playing on Talk, but just didn't get the schedules to fit in the end...?
As for Union 2, given what Wakeman's said about Jonathan Elias in the past, I wonder what he thinks about Anderson making an album with him now!

In terms of any kind of Union happening what I'd be happy to see is ...
Yes (with JD) make a new album and tour in 2014;
AWR make an album and do a light (for Jon's sake) tour in 2014;
The tours are arranged such that at some point (or points) on the tour, the two meet up to play the talked-of residence shows that are less residencies than two or three nights in a few cities that combine shows by both acts and at which certain ex-members (Kaye, Sherwood, Horn, Moraz, David) turn up to guest.

It seems to me that it was originally said that all eight would record an album together. Once Howe dropped out, Bruford dropped out by default. My memory says they were waiting for Wakeman, but he could not make it for one reason or another. Whether he was ready to sign the Victory Records contract or not for the album or not, I don't know. But I remember Trevor saying that the long song on Talk and somewhat more classic-Yes direction was something that Victory wanted, so presumably they wanted Wakeman, too.

If they toured, I guess they would play most of their album, and then they could do some of the quieter Talk songs (Walls ? Endless dream excerpt ?), surely Owner and possibly Hearts from 90125, why not Final Eyes and Holy Lamb too ? And Jon and Rick could have a duet moment to play what they've been doing as a duet. Trevor could have his solo spot too to play a guitar instrumental and a duet with Jon...I'm sure Rick would be more accomodating than Trevor as to what period music they play.

Or, rather, I think the interview (probably with Alan) said they had begun recording and were trying to find a time for Wakeman to come in and record parts. What that has to do with Victory, I'm not sure.

The storms of life They came
as we made our way towards home
and foes, they rose to strike us down
These are not the Truth
though they threaten
they are soon swallowed by Time
and matter not when the end is come
