As great of a musician as Rick Wakeman is, he really hasn't been great on a Yes (or ABWH) album since Going for the One. Geoff Downes has been great on two Yes albums since then.

Somebody earlier said that if Yes fired Geoff then Steve Howe goes too, so unless they have another guitarist lined up it isn't likely to happen. (But we can never say never, when it comes to Yes.)

At this stage of their careers, no, I don't think so.

    Yeah..I agree.

They'd be foolish to do so.

Seriously, Crotale, dont take this the wrong way, cause I like your posts, but you have to get Geoff's name right. I've spurted all sorts of stuff out of my nose because of your sloppy spelling :-) I tried to point this out in another thread, but I was either too subtle or too offensive, or people just ignored it anyway...

well.. having diferintlly colored tape might be a good idea for wakeman.. it might help with his creativety on what I have herd from the reassent past...

plaese dont regurgitait any of that good blow- its a waist of kerrencey, the stuff is espeancive.

I agree! Plus I really enjoy watching Geoff enjoy himself and put a good show on versus watching Wakeman looking bored up there...

Wakeman can play 1,000 notes at light speed but not a fan of his writing or keyboard sounds... Geoff is a great writer, arranger, producer, and hip dude with great keyboard sounds who can play 1,000 notes at light speed... and with a smile! They (Yes) are vibing musically and having to much fun, he is not going anywhere.

Re: Would Yes fire Geoff if Rick wanted back?

As great as Rick was for Yes in the 70's, I don't think he has contributed much to Yesmusic after that decade the times he came back. Also on his last go around the focus was purely on nostalgia. So, I much prefer Geoff at the moment.

But answering the question: I think if Rick would make the call to Chris, Chris would probably start laughing and ask him whether he was out of his mind. I think what certainly is showing since the release of FFH is that HSW want a more steady line-up (if Benoit's voice would have held up, I'm sure he would still be in) and more continuity, so I doubt they would be very open to yet another line-up switch.
The mind is like a parachute; it works much better when it's open.
