I hate the song America and don't care for it all when Jon Anderson sings it. That being said, the guys really blew me away with their performance/rendition of it this time around. They really made the song special and the song was well suited in having everyone in the band shine alone and collectively. It was a huge and pleasant surprise for me and I will admit that when I read that they were going to probably be playing it in the set-list this tour, I groaned to myself. Wasn't the first time and def. won't be the last time I will be wrong but this song whether a Paul Simon song or not, had all the YES-music magic that happily drew me into the rest of the show. 2012 and YES ( Chris, Steve, Alan, Geoff and Jon) are still surprising me and making me smile. :-) Go, YES!
( Seriously, I loved all of the songs they played, and all for different reasons and I had just as much fun watching how each song affected others in their own way. Not a bad one in the bunch although it's always easy to single out the first song as it's usually not 100% but it's always the projectile/ the first shot that gets the guys going. I will also admit that I knew YES better deliver the goods following an amazing Procol Harum and they did just that and then some.)
