Update on Advert links you see throught the forums...

As many of you are aware, a little over a month ago I added an advert text link service to the site. I realize many of you did not like it, saw it as intrusive. I decided to keep it on the site for a month and see what it does for us.
Well the first full month we made 50.00 bucks. I consider that a success as it is 50.00 bucks for the server fund we do not have otherwise. I looked over the months report and for the most part the daily funds generated by the program has trended up in what we made. It was a small trend upwards but non the less the program is working.
Again, it is 50.00 we did not have. I know some of you really hate it, I am sorry, but feel free to donate that 50.00 every month and I will remove the program. :)
I am trying to do more to make the site less donation driven, less of me posting "We need donations now" urgent messages every so often.

It's a small price to pay though, really. Yeah, it makes reading the posts a tad bit weird, with random words in brown and double-underlined, but the site doesn't pay for itself, so whatcha gonna do?.

Hey, have you tried asking Yes management if they'd like to underwrite it? (Yeah, I know, I know, fat chance of THAT, eh?)

I have had offers 2x through the years from Chris via Scottie to pay for it but I turned it down because I felt that if I took it then I am ganna have to "clean up the site" a bit. I would think that in so many nice words I would be asked to remove this, remove that, and this was long before the last few years of mess that has hit the site due to the band changes. I am glad I did not do it.
If I were to ask Band Mang. they would want me to scrub the site down to a point that it is straight current YES talk. I don't think that is a direction I want to go for sure and the membership would not care for it either. I think I am right in feeling that just based on the fact that Yesfans.com links on Yesworld has been reduced to one that is hidden in the tour section of YW that you almost miss if you are not looking for it.
I did awhile back I did offer to sell the whole site to them and I would run it for free for them. They said we will buy the domain name for 350 bucks and I can keep the content/Forums, we won't need it. HA HA HA

No no no, I've told you a few times I never supported Yes, LLC or any of the individual band members from owning this site... I don't think that is a good idea I kind of know aobut the offers they made... But it's best that things stay as they are... They have more important things to worry about

The first day I noticed them I was like, "WTF??!!!" But, I can filter them out with my mind no problem. If it brings and extra $600 a year for us then COOL BEAN!

The links are ok - if they bring in a bit of moolah, great.

Tim, does the forum get anything extra if we click on the links? If so then I would propose that folks could informally pledge to click on "x"number of the ads per week as a means of helping out a little.

I don't find them too intrusive & if it helps fund the site, then so be it.

I think I set it to only show 9 word per page. Hell anymore I move around them with no effort, and if I hit one by accident fast enough it won't pop the add. BUT I'd prefer ya check them out time to time. HE HE
