    Rank the Yes line-ups!

We've had 'rank the albums' 'rank the songs' etc. threads, so I suddenly thought, what about a 'rank the line-ups' thread.

So rank the various line-ups we've had from favorite to least favorite. These are the line-ups in chronological order:

    Anderson/Squire/Banks/Kaye/Bruford

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Kaye/Bruford

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Wakeman/Bruford

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Wakeman/White

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Moraz/White

    Horn/Squire/Howe/Downes/White

    Anderson/Squire/Rabin/Kaye/White

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Rabin/Wakeman/Kaye/Bruford/White

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Sherwood/Koroshev/White

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Koroshev/White

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/White

    David/Squire/Howe/O. Wakeman/White

    David/Squire/Howe/Downes/White

    Davison/Squire/Howe/Downes/White

Well you seem to like the current line-up, so where for instance would you rank that one amongst the other line-ups?

    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Wakeman/Bruford
    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Wakeman/White
(those 2 are very close, they could switch plaes depening on my mood)
    Anderson/Squire/Howe/Kaye/Bruford

The rest is a mish mash.... The 3 I mentioned to me are the oens that really stand out creativiely, as well as performance wise. Sure there's some great stuff done by other line-ups.... Just not in the top form of the lineups I mentioned, in my opinion of course.

In order to get to the eighteen members figure that Squire has been citing in recent interviews you have to count either Eddie Jobson who was very briefly a part of YesWest replacing Tony Kaye or Tom Brislin who played keys on the Symphonic tour, but who was pretty definitely billed as a sideman at the time. I lean Jobson. Also, "Love Conquers All" from YesYears is Sherwood, Squire, Rabin,Kaye,White and then there's Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe who were Yes in everything but official name.

Frumious, I started a thread on this 18th member mystery last year. I didn't get a lot of replies... My guess is Eddie.

Anderson, Wakeman, White, Squire and Howe.

Anything else is an imitation and not really YES.
It's not bad,... but it's just not YES.

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe Squire is my favourite
Anderson White Moraz Howe Squire comes second with only one album.

But I love all of the YES periods.

Well, I think I mentioned all the line-ups that either officially released an album or officially toured or both. I know ABWH fit those criteria as well, but as mentioned they were never officially Yes.
