We'll still need the support becuase (as Meng rightly pointed out in the previous incarnation of this thread), if we win all 5 games of the series we will become the no. 1 ranked side in One Day Internationals, usurping Australia in the process. We will also then become the only team ever to hold the no.1 ranking in all three forms of the game at the same time.

Bittu thought she caught a glimpse of me on the telly during the highlights. Really? I asked. "Yes, I saw a bearded chap with a white hat." As you may know, bearded chaps with white hats makes up about 10% of the crowd at an England cricket match - so it could've been me, but just as likely one of about a thousand other blokes!

    Indeed I am Mr Greeny.
I was just down the supermarket doing the weekly shop and my mind started turning to baked potatoes and soups; those things don't usually enter my mind until about late September. I should be thinking salad, sweetcorn. When the hell is the bloody sun going to come out and actually hang around for longer than two days. When is the temperature going stay above 25 for longer than it takes me to get me shorts and sandals out?

It's amazing isn't it? The US is literally* frying in temperatures over a hundred & we're puddle jumping & huddling in sweaters. In July, FGS!

*I hereby fine myself for misuse of the word 'literally'

And I suppose you think women should not be seen in Doctor Marten's boots either.

    Bare feet is also good.

I have lived in countries where wearing sandals with socks is quite acceptable and I found this to be a far more enlightened standpoint on the issue. In some circumstances, sandals with socks is an extremely practical choice - fashion faux pas be damned.

That reminds me of a poem

There was an old man of Devizes....
Sky was black, Lord, rain came pouring down
