Someone had posted on another thread that all the topics are this vs that and that we are runing out of topic to talk about (something that will change when yes starts recording the next album) but I figured I'd create a few new threads to spice things up...
starting with my controversial opinions about yes thread. Simple thread post all the stuff you wanted to say on this forum about yes but were scared to....
1. the 9012live version of starship trooper is the beast version ever. Tony Kaye Owns the song and Rabin is just amazing on it.
2. I want yes to do another album... I know what you thinking how is this controversial I don't know but yet I feel wanting a new yes album has gone out of fashion but i figure I've loved every album from yes to fly from here so why would I not want more yesmusic? but it's somewhat controversial I guess for some odd reason
3. The 2003 version of Owner of a lonely heart from Japan is probably the best performance Steve Howe has even given on a rabin song Ever!
4. Geoff Downes is underrated and brilliant on Drama and Fly From Here
5. Hilary Duff could sing yes music and do a good job this is not an opnion but a fact as her vocal range is n the same range as Anderson David Davison and Horn whether she would fit or not is an opnion I still think she would
6. Yes could write a bond theme that is not only brilliant but more bondian then Shirley Bassey and John Barry in their sleep
7. Aliens is a good song
8. Owner of a lonely Heart is a good song but not my favorite off of 90125 actually City of love gets that honor
9. Vultures in the city was left off of ABWH and was better then 95 % of the album
10. Union was a great idea on paper.... in practice it was a good idea not great though.
11. I believe the classic lineup should refer to the lineup you either were born with (90125 lineup for me) or grew up with (since i grew up in the 90's the longest running lineup was Squire white Howe Khorochev Sherwood and Anderson) so for me the classic lineup is Squire White Rabin Kaye and Anderson...
12. in spite of my love of down to earth rock and roll yes Tales is a brilliant album as is relayer
13. I don't care that can;'t understand 95% of Anderson's lyrics I love them and they make me happy
14. Keys volume 1 and 2 are underrated.... severely underrated
15. Yes could produce a song as epic as this song from the Sherlock Holmes sound track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FE4D...eature=related
16. I hear Steve Howe makes a great veggie pizza and I'm inclined to believe it
17. Yes is the best band of all time
18. go through this speak so much to me right now that it is one of if not my favorite yes track
19. my favourite yes track changes weekly if not daily.
20.. the current lineup should play City of love why because it would be F&*KING AWESOME
ok enough of mine how about yours?
The Current lineup is Chris Squire Alan White Geoff Downes Steve Howe and Jon Davison and according to Geoff Downes who told me personally they WILL RELEASE A NEW ALBUM NEXT SPRING. END OF DISCUSSION

Cargo of diamonds as you are: nothing more valuable, nothing more tough.
She's an equal opportunity offender, a societal wildcard. You can't control her, only hope to contain her, even then she refuses to be possessed. If she were a coin, you would spend her, unwillingly. If she were an animal, you'd free her to the wilderness.
- Almost 40 years later, Tales still disappoints me every time I listen to it. Goes well with curry.
- ABWH is a great album.
- 90125 is a good album. But I still don't find it nearly as interesting as CTTE, Relayer, or ABWH.
- I'm okay with another album but they will have to do a lot better than FFH.
- I'll give you, the 9012Live version of ST is great. But Trevor really annoys me with how he plays on a lot of the other classic Yes songs.
so the story goes
I know I loved you for a reason T matt is lucky
any other opnions
oh and
21. i said this under a year ago that Fade Away should be finished by yes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsS4kR-VxgU
that still stands.

OK... *deep breath*...
1) Much as I love Wakeman and Moraz, and much as I love Close to the Edge and Relayer, I believe The Yes album is the best Yes record of the 1970s. It's perfect in every way.
2) 90125 is the artiest AOR record ever made, and I still love it all these years later.
More later....

1. Big Generator: Underrated gem
2. Drama: Formerly an underrated gem, now slightly overrated
3. Rick Wakeman: Lost it with the invention of polyphonic synths and never quite recovered
4. Benoit David: Blaze Bayley. Nuff said.
5. Bill Bruford: Glad that he left Yes, not because I don't like him, but because he was so perfect for King Crimson.
6. Roger Dean: Last album cover I saw from him that felt particularly special to me was YesYears.
7. The Beatles: The more of their influence I hear on a given Yes recording the more I usually like it. I consider Yes to be the band that did the best job of picking the threads of what the Fabs were doing and carrying them forward into something completely new.
8. Jon Anderson: Not so great without Chris Squire and Steve Howe.
9. Chris Squire: Not so great without Jon Anderson and Steve Howe.
10. Steve Howe: Not so great without Jon Anderson and Chris Squire.
That's a wrap.
Bloody good, yes. Best, no (see TYA, Wembley 78, Yessongs and ABWH)
Not controversial for me.2. I want yes to do another album... Not heard it - but the competition isn't strong.3. The 2003 version of Owner of a lonely heart from Japan is probably the best performance Steve Howe has even given on a rabin song Ever!
Drama certainly, particularly after Wakeman's dreadful keyboard sounds on Tormato.4. Geoff Downes is underrated and brilliant on Drama and Fly From Here
Never heard her. That is a situation unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.5. Hilary Duff could sing yes music and do a good job this is not an opnion but a fact as her vocal range is n the same range as Anderson David Davison and Horn whether she would fit or not is an opnion I still think she would
Nah.6. Yes could write a bond theme that is not only brilliant but more bondian then Shirley Bassey and John Barry in their sleep
Naaaaaaaaaaah.7. Aliens is a good song
Owner is a good pop song, not a good Yessong. City would fit much better on a Rabin solo album.8. Owner of a lonely Heart is a good song but not my favorite off of 90125 actually City of love gets that honor
Agreed. Teakbois out, Vultures in.9. Vultures in the city was left off of ABWH and was better then 95 % of the album
It was a great idea on paper, and great live. The album was a disastrous mess.10. Union was a great idea on paper.... in practice it was a good idea not great though.
The classic lineup is the one that made Fragile and CTTE. I accept no arguments to the contrary.11.
Yup.12. in spite of my love of down to earth rock and roll yes Tales is a brilliant album as is relayer
It's about the music maaaaaan ...13. I don't care that can;'t understand 95% of Anderson's lyrics I love them and they make me happy
Keystudio is better than both.14. Keys volume 1 and 2 are underrated.... severely underrated
Hmmmm.15. Yes could produce a song as epic as this song from the Sherlock Holmes sound track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FE4D...eature=related
No ham and bacon, no pizza.16. I hear Steve Howe makes a great veggie pizza and I'm inclined to believe it
Close, but then there's The Beatles.17. Yes is the best band of all time
Not one of mine.18. go through this speak so much to me right now that it is one of if not my favorite yes track
CTTE (particularly Seasons Of Man). Always and forever.19. my favourite yes track changes weekly if not daily.
I won't be waiting for this night to come.20.. the current lineup should play City of love why because it would be F&*KING AWESOME

And I love Welcome To The Pleasuredome, but when you compare them there's truly no contest.
