Jon at Sadler's Wells, London, August 8

It was reported recently that Jon is planning to play a concert at Sadler's Wells in London. The article reported:

Former Yes vocalist Jon Anderson has announced a special one-off London show for later this year. He will appear at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre on August 8. “The concert in London is with the Slovakian Chamber Orchestra with the help of my good friend composer Peter Machajdik plus a semi acoustic group I performed with a couple of years ago in Bratislava,” says Anderson. “We will be performing some classic songs I wrote with Yes and Vangelis, plus some new songs in a concert for Earth and Peace at the 2012 Olympic Games.”


I have been checking the Sadler's Wells website daily and as yet there is no announcement regarding Jon's gig. However, today a show has been added to the Sadler's Wells calendar for August 7, featuring the Solvak National Folklore Ballet. This obviously suggests that the Slovaks may indeed be in town to play the following night with Jon.

I will add more info as soon as it comes available at the Sadler's Wells site.

I was at a Sadler's Wells production yesterday and took the opportunity to talk to someone in person about Jon's show. At the ticket desk the woman I asked knew nothing, but overhearing, another woman at the desk called me over and said that the latest she knew was that the contract details have yet to be finalised, but are in the process of being ironed out. She then spent several minutes at her computer to see if there was any other news or updates in their system, but that revealed nothing. She then gave me an email address for their events department and said I may be able to get more info from them. I'll email them soon and post again here when I've heard back.

The woman also said they've had quite a few enquiries about the show. So it looks like there's definite interest and it sounds like the plans are coming together.

I spoke to the venue several weeks ago and they offered to email me when something was known. Nothing yet, but I'll post if I hear anything...

In response to my query, I received the following short email update from Sadler's Wells today:

I am co-ordinating the show below [Jon Anderson] from Sadler's Wells and am yet to receive information on the show from the company. I do hope to have tickets going on sale in the next two weeks so please do keep looking on our website next week and I’m sure you will see it come up.

they are putting the link for the show together today,and should show on the website in the morning.if it is not showing i have been told to contact the ticket office anyway and tickets will be available.sorry no idea of price

It's up now. Tickets are £25-£65. Most of the stalls is already sold out, but lots left in the circles. I'll be there.

I'll be meeting my long time Yes fan and concert-going friend sometime earlier on and I'm sure he'll be up for getting together with a bunch of like-minded music lovers before the show. Any other Londoners have an idea of good places to meet near the venue?
