Re: AWR back on and for 2012 ?!

So here's what Jon had to say about it this week:
A couple of months ago, Jon Anderson told CBS Local that he was working on a project with fellow Yes alumni Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin. In a follow up interview this week, he said that the project is still in the works.“Rick’s recording as we speak,” Anderson says. “He said he’d send me some music this month or next month. And then I would send it to Trevor. We’d actually written a couple of songs, me and Trevor, and me and Rick have written a couple.” Last time, Anderson said he couldn’t imagine an Anderson/Wakeman/Rabin tour, but he may have warmed up to the idea. If they do tour, fans shouldn’t expect a Yes “greatest hits” show.
“If we make music that we really like, and we put it out there, we’ve got a good fan base who wants to see us do newmusic… I don’t think we’d want to go out just doing old music, I don’t see the point. I’d rather go out there and do some new music, of course, you’d do old stuff that people want to hear. But you don’t rely on that as your show. You want to take some new music out there and have an adventure.”
    Giving good content, babe.

Oh for fcuk's sake - first PROG and now Something Else! - can we please have no more second-hand sourced articles which make astoundingly bad assumptions and twist the actual statements into blatant falsehoods? Please?!

Thanks for posting that, you got the scoop ahead of Henry lol

Good to hear they are still working away on this albeit slowly but there is a lot of water yet to go under the bridge, many projects have got further and still never seen the light of day. Looks like Anderson has moved on somewhat from a primary focus of any live AWR being YES tunes, that said the temptation to play something esp from TALK will be considerable for both Rabin and Anderson. I doubt very much they'll tour but who knows. Personally I'd prefer they played from each others solo works rather than from YES

I am on the 'believe it when I hear and see it' wagon. I would love for this to happen, but so far if I have to believe Jon over the last year or so, they have been working on the project and the project has been on hold, they wouldn't go on a tour, just and album, they will go out on tour and even play 'Heart of the Sunrise', 'Perpetual Change' and 'Endless'Dream', they might go on a tour but not rely on the old stuff.

It's like a weatherforcast where they say it will rain, with some sunshine, some rain, it might hail and there could even maybe be some snow. Yeah, by covering every possible angle, something of it will come true......

So Trevor posted this little comment on his FB on Friday:
    (plus don/t rule out AWR
(sic - he needs to wear his glasses when he's doing this, silly man)
...and while it would be presumptous to say it was a direct response to my blog post of the previous day I did have a moment of Okay Maestro, I'm sorry I publicly expressed doubt about the whole thing, please don't hurt me!

Levin and Bruford in for the rhythm section? Actually, who will be playing drums and bass for this project?

Obviously he could, but I'd rather see a real human playing the drums, and a bassist who brings their own style, but I just want it all, and I want them to do a limited tour at least.

I still maintain that this has the potential to be really jaw-dropping...but, it could also be a sugar-coated candy thing.

Here's hoping that the two very "schooled" musicians and the very (used to be) adventurously creative river elf can summon their powers and create something special. Why bother if it isn't. That means taking chances, pushing the envelope, as well as writing something worthwhile.

Again, I have a feeling this is either going to be a monster...or it's going to be Big Generator with Tormato keys and Jon solo writing.

Guys, let's use your potential and scare us, OK?

I really hope this happens, but I doesn't seem that much of a priority for any of them.

Re: AWR back on and for 2012 ?!

The drummer Allan Holdsworth once used...Mac Hine :)
But seriously, nobody can tell right now if they're going to do something in the rock spectrum or in the accoustic/symphonic spectrum. The rhythm section will depend on that. There may even not be a rhythm section. (The Living Tree, the song Where Will You Be, ...) If they want to sound more YESSY, I hope they can give Billy a call. They all seem to like him and he could add his Chrislike basslines. The more time passes, the less I dream of a bruford comeback. And without Bruford, I don't see Levin in either. And if they don't want to be seen as an alternative YES band, Trevor can find any local studio cat for sessions or do everything himself.
