AWR back on and for 2012 ?!

I thought a new thread was in order despite being covered and discussed at the end of this thread http://www.yesfans.com/showthread.ph...t-on-hold-quot and also in Henry's thread here http://www.yesfans.com/showthread.ph...test-Prog-more

But from Henry's site here http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnyesm.htm#wakrab is the following:

"A May 2012 interview with Anderson is more open: "It Happens When It Happens, is my mantra! [...] we're always in touch. [...] we'll see what happens." Likewise, comments from Rabin around the same time are more positive. In this May 2012 interview, Rabin is asked whether there is anything he cares to discuss about the collaboration and replies: "Nothing I care to discuss as of yet. Rick is supposed to be sending me something pretty soon for us to work on, so we'll see what comes of it." In another May 2012 interview, he said:

We’ve been wanting to do something for a couple of years now but we’ve not been able to get together. Either I was on tour [this appears to be in reference to Rabin accompanying his son's band, Grouplove, on tour], or Rick and Jon were on tour. I met with Rick about eight months ago in London. Rick and I get along so well [...] As musicians, we get on really well, and the same goes with Jon. The three of us are really intending on doing something but time has not been our friend.

An article in Prog magazine, issue 26, states that, "While nothing is confirmed, Rabin hopes recording will happen in 2012." This issue was published May 2012, although it appears to be based on an interview around Mar. Rabin is quoted as saying: "I haven't spent time with Rick since we had dinner in London at the end of last year. And I last saw Jon ever earlier, when he stayed with me. The problem is that all three of us have so much going on in our lives that it's been impossible to find the time to take it forward. The one thing I can tell you is that we all want to make this happen." He describes plans for the album: "What we want to end up with is an album that showcases what we're all about as individuals, but to make certain that it has an overall sound which represents this new band." He also mentions the possible involvement of Bill Bruford, which has been previously ruled out by Bruford (see below): "I know Bill Bruford's name has been mentioned, and I'd be happy to have him involved. But right now, we've approached nobody else at all. And, to be realistic, until we have our schedule mapped out, then there is no point in bringing anyone else in."

Fantastic news that AWR appears to be still on !

These guys would be CRAZY not to grab onto TR for a run at an album. Based on what he just put out with the new solo effort, they could really make some magic I think.

Though at the right time, in the right place, that could be fun too!

What is the other thread?. I started this because the other thread was about Anderson saying AWR was on hold, this fixes that by saying it appears to not be on hold

It will be interesting to see what Wakeman Snr says [if anything] in his next GORR update...

I agree so much with this, it's what I have been saying for ages. If they don't postpone all their never-happening other projects to put their best in this, Rick a,d Jon are definitely nuts. And concerning the rhythm section, I persist in thinking that if the music is promising enough and the money as well, Bill could come out for a session. We've seen this before. Of course, they'll never tour so why not try to have Bill ? Otherwise I'm pretty sure Rabin will pick his rhythm section within his own clique of LA sessions musicians, or even from withinh his own family.

Not that I think posting here is a direct line to anyones ears, but we really could do worse than trying to let them know how much support there is for this project !

And thank you for that, but didn't you post it under the "Jon says AWR is on hold" thread ?

If that was the case I felt this fantastic news was lost there and better under a new thread saying AWR appears back not to be hold

Good news indeed esp. coming from Rabin

In all of that, though, there is nothing definitive. If they do get around to writing and recording that would be great, but again I think it's better to wait till there is something real because we've already been strung along for too long.

PS: Mike please stop giving me rep just so you can scold me, okay? I consider it a form of harassment.

Re: AWR back on and for 2012 ?!

I'd love to see it come to fruition. It certainly sounds like they all want to do it, but it's abundantly clear that Bill Bruford is not remotely interested in either the money or in that sort of music. Yes is ancient history to him, a passing phase of his distant youth. He ssays he is retired from professinal performing and he strikes me as the sort of man who means exactly what he says. He's not at all the classic rock star who can't bear to be away from the limelight. I love his playing on the early Yes stuff, but his heart was not in the ABWH and Union tour. He played well of course, but I'd rather they chose someone who was passionate about what they can still do together.

I sure hope it happens! Would love Bruford along but you have to respect a guy who worked hard all his life and decided to retire and enjoy life a bit as with Bill Wyman, Ray Thomas or Christine McVie. More power to them.

I hopew this works out I would love for Bill Bruford and maybe even Billy Sherwood and Tony Kaye to be involved.
The Current lineup is Chris Squire Alan White Geoff Downes Steve Howe and Jon Davison and according to Geoff Downes who told me personally they WILL RELEASE A NEW ALBUM NEXT SPRING. END OF DISCUSSION

I doubt Tony would be involved with Rick there. And the whole idea was that Rick and Trevor wanted to work together. That really limits the chances of Billy Sherwood being the bassist, and I've never cared for Bruford, so I hope not...
