OK, then. I just finished up a listen of Rick's 8th, and last album released in the 70s, Rhapsodies.
I took a break from my Wakeman Fest. But I did get through the 70s. And I'm finally ready to delve into the next era of Wakeman releases.

So Wakeman's first release in the 80s was his soundtrack for The Burning, a slasher film produced by the now-notorious Harvey Weinstein.

Wakeman shares album credit with Alan Brewer and Anna Pepper. Brewer was musical director for the film and co-producer of the score and soundtrack album with Wakeman.

So I'm not really sure how much of the score Wakeman wrote, if any.

But it starts with a handful of Wakeman solo piano tracks. They're good, but they start to wear thin after five in a row. Just as I'm about to be a bit overly critical, some dialogue from the film is inserted (the Campfire Story), and the rest of the tracks are piano and orchestra arrangements. These are far more listenable.

I really don't get the track list. It seems to me it would have made far more sense to have mixed them up.

    .

Anyway, I just started in on his other 1981 release, 1984.
