I'm not saying a new Yes album won't happen, but I wouldn't expect any news until late in 2013 at the earliest. Unless they have a specific contractual commitment to Frontier to produce someting within a time frame, I would not hold my breath. Chris clearly wants to do another one with the current line up if possible, but as we know ... with Yes anything can happen.
Howe has seemed eager to find time between Yes and Asia for various other projects (solo, Trio and more). The recent Downes quote also suggests later rather than sooner for a next Yes album: like Howe, he's up to his ears in Yes and Asia, but has other projects on the go (Downes Braide Association, solo work, maybe more Buggles). But the pressure's going to be there to keep momentum up for both Yes and Asia as well.

Indeed it was different than Yes music at that time, but we were talking about 'going back what made you succesfull ' so the more fair comparison would be with 70's Yes, since that is what they were trying to go back to. IMO they did not succeed in going back to what made them succesfull, to me it was a pretty hollow copy of what was Yes in the 70's.

I don't think we have to worry about Steve leaving yes any time soon.
The Current lineup is Chris Squire Alan White Geoff Downes Steve Howe and Jon Davison and according to Geoff Downes who told me personally they WILL RELEASE A NEW ALBUM NEXT SPRING. END OF DISCUSSION

Nor do I, but it is plausible that we might have to worry about Steve pushing for a slightly longer delay in the recommencement of Yes activity.

Well if that happens due to XXX doing well, and the Asia tour extending, it would leave some space for Chris to do some live shows with Squakett material- which would be really cool.

I wouldn't be expecting much to happen Yes wise until mid 2013..... Most of them have large blocks of time for other projects after this Yes tour. IF Yes is too continue, and things feel right, perhaps they work individually working out some song ideas early next year. They do have the open offer from Frontiers on another studio album, so that's not a problem. It really depends on the individuals and where they sit after this year. What I see is that they will do their respective other projects inot March or so of 2013, and then go out again as Yes late Spring, early Summer (northern), and IF a new album is too come about hit the studio in late 2013.

I'm excited and scared by your post at the exact same time Smatt (which makes you that much more awesome lol)..

Let me ask you this is their drive with in the majority of the band to do another album Chris Wants to this much I am sure of but Chris Seems to always write new music and tour it it's what he loves to do no problem with that honestly. But Geoff Steve Alan and Jon seem quiet about it. do they want to do another album yes or no?

plus I am so down for another yes north america tour I'll be there in a heart beat.

Give it time, they don't even know if they will have a band after this tour....

Yes is like a falling snowflake.... You never know what it will look like when it hits the ground... Heck, you never really know IF it's going to hit the ground, it could melt before then.

Now don't overreact... It just means they have a new singer, other projects on the schedule, no firm plans.... Besides theyr'e all 60-somethings... Save for Jon D..... So you should treat everyday as possibly the last you will see them out as Yes...

Used to take my girlfriend, now wife. After a discussion a while ago we came to an agreement not to waste money going to bands the other likes but we don't.

Now she doesn't go to prog gigs - I go with my friends and it's great ! I don't have to go and see stuff like Muse either !

We both still have loads of bands we go to together - from Fleetwood Mac to Slayer !

Don't take girlfriends to Yes gigs...

I expect about the same as you do. If/when Yes come back together I expect it to be for another tour first, and that could very well be another US summer tour, and only after that maybe take the time for a new album.

Which would still be in line with Chris hinting out working on a new album next year

It does, but there still is a big IF in the air I feel. So many things, bandmembers, a producer, managements, health (most of them are not the youngest anymore) have to be all in place before something happens, that there can easily be something or someone holding it back......
