Congratulations - I didn't realise teaching in the US was on a year by year basis.
Over here you get a teaching job and that's it until you retire or go mad.
It's usually mad...

Soon oh soon the light, Pass within and soothe this endless night, And wait here for you, Our reason to be here...
Thanks! Until you have tenure as a teacher, it is not a given, and they don't have to give you a reason, so I am glad to be coming back for my 1st FULL year in the district.

Well, they aren't mutually exclusive! lol....Yes teachers sign a contract each year, in most states, after 2-3 years, teachers acheive tenure, which means they will be offered a contract automatically each year, unless the district can show cause not to do so, and the teacher will have the right to a hearing and "due process" to appeal the decision. Since I am new in the district, I will have to sign 2 more contracts (two full years and signed on for a third in Mississippi) to acheive "tenure" officially "fair dismissal". Before being tenured, the district can choose to not renew a teacher, and the teache has no right to due process.

Cargo of diamonds as you are: nothing more valuable, nothing more tough.
She's an equal opportunity offender, a societal wildcard. You can't control her, only hope to contain her, even then she refuses to be possessed. If she were a coin, you would spend her, unwillingly. If she were an animal, you'd free her to the wilderness.
