Just shows IMHO why Howe was the perfect gtrist fr that slot... His breaks fit into the slot - not drown out the songs..

This is something I stumbled upon on YouTube.
http://youtu.be/KwEnWQikQY0
I had heard about Rabin being involved in the very early days of Asia, but here's the proof.
Strange isn't it? As someone remarked on YouTube: if Rabin stuck with Asia, Howe might have rejoined Yes and OOALH might have been an Asia song!
There's also a possibility that Howe's on here too, there are some bits that sound Howesque...
But it ddint work out with Steve either.Steve was an ass to John,so he left and Astra was created.

DRAMA = YES'S BEST ALBUM
There was a lot involved here-egos to be sure. One member's drinking played a part also.
Yes I posted this on the TR subforum months ago.
There's nothing to prove; Trevor has stated on several occasions that he'd rehearsed with Asia for a week or two, then told John Kalodner he wasn't going to join. I've never really speculated what might have happened given how negative Trevor felt about it from the outset, but I don't see what's so particularly strange about it, except we're so used to hearing Wetton sing that song.
I'm very interested in this documments. Please, how can i get videos, bootlegs or auditions of Trevor Rabin with Asia?
I did not know this.
If I understand well the story. A band involving Wetton, Palmer, Wakeman et Rabin was once planned. But Wakeman (or his managment) decided not to join.
Then a record company suggested that Wetton and Howe start to work together. Palmer, Downes and Rabin (with his tape) were brought in the project. Rabin left during the first rehearsal wiht his tape and finally started a new band with Squire and White...
It seems that two demos of the quintet appeared on a boot called:
The making of Asia - Various sources - 1982-2001
Various - A/B
CD 1 : Making of Asia medley (Including excerpts from Machine messiah, In the dead of night, Video killed the radio star, Into the lens, Get what you want, Papertalk, Johnny on the monorail, Tempus fugit, Nothing to lose, We can fly from here, Kid Dynamo, When will you realize, Elstree, Rendez vous 6:02, I'll be there, Here comes the feeling), Eye to eye, Here comes the feeling (Original studio demos), No reply (Atoll with John Wetton, from "Rock Puzzle" album), Here comes the feeling, Starry eyes (Early demos with Trevor Rabin), The number, Dreamer, Rainbow ("Asia" sessions outtakes), Cutting it fine (closing section)/Hall of the Mountain King (Geoff Downes solo), Cutting it fine (Closing section, full band version), Geoff Downes improvisation, The man with the golden arm (Live in Pittsburgh, 25/04/1982), Daylight, Lying to yourself, Ride easy (Single B-sides, 1983-1986)

The Demos are called "The making of Demos, Rehearsals, Rarities, Interviews etc."
We could see the list in this link http://www.mentalzee.com/Yeslist/Asia.html
In 1980's Trevor Rabin was the guitarist of Asia. That was after Geffen Records dropped Rabin's contract in 1982. He auditioned in the first album of Asia.
