Do you have the track number for the above song?? Side one or two on the album? :D

Actually it is Track # 10 on the Rhino reissue.

It is a rarely heard Yes track that has a groovy dance beat with a heart breaking lyrical contrast that rivals Soon. If truth be told it is also kind of a sexual song along the lines of Rhythm Of Love. A must hear song. The endless debate will be which Yes member it was. Odds would be Trevor but he did not appear on this song. The lyrics are credited to Anderson but Jane has been around too long. My guess was Wakeman had a slight setback in the drinking arena and next thing you know Jon is writing as Rick laments his story. This will be argued for years to come but hey you heard from Shifty and I first.

and that is my final answer.

Wow Bren is really getting into this site and he see that the Classic Yes album is being overlooked.

Like many other bands, Yes has fallen prey to many of their works being released over and over. But, not as bad as some other bands like The Who.

Now having said this, Classic Yes was a very good "Hits" package. It cover a period from 1970 through 1978. There are no entries from Tales, Relayer, or Tormato. However, this truly was a hits compilation as I have heard the studio versions of each song on this release on the radio and for the most part still do.

It was also the first Hits release by this band (I don't consider Yesterday a hits album) and once again it is a good representation of thier radio success.

We also got two new live versions of arguably the two most successful songs of the time.

Lastly, we got a new Roger Dean piece and how can complain about that.

There you go.
It was the first hits release.
It gave us two new live versions for the overall collection.
It gave us another Dean piece.
It realy was a good representation of the band's success.

Cheers

Robert, what you said!

Classic Yes is rather superfluous now, but for folks who got into Yes in the 80s, it wound up serving as a great introduction to their 70s music, sans epics. It was the first release I bought after getting turned onto Yes with 90125, and it whetted my appetite for more. I also knew quite a few peers whose Yes collections started with CY.

And now, all these years later it still has my favorite version of "All Good People", so I guess I have to keep it. :toolcool:

I only had 90125 and this album was recommended to me by a guy I was working with. I listened and never looked back (or is that forward).

A very close, very dear, not fully "Yes" versed friend of mine bought this album first. Does not own a large percentage of the band's output.

So, and but, for this reason alone, I have a soft spot for this release. Along with the music ... lol

Still the best introduction to Yes, IMO.

CY will always hold a special place in my heart because the live version of Roundabout on this album was the very first Yes song I ever heard. It's also still one of my favorite versions of the song.

I bought mine, like what you describe about a year ago. Its timeless, my friend, as long as you have one of those cute little triskellion thingies to adapt and play the single :)

As a CD, this is a great little present for anyone who is curious to what Yes sounds like :)

It's a great driving disc too!

I mean, just look at the tracklist:

Heart of the Sunrise
Wonderous Stories
Starship Trooper
Yours Is No Disgrace
Long Distance Runaround
The Fish
And You And I
Roundabout (live 78)
I've Seen All Good People (live 78)

I wish Bren could/would come back. (Off-topic, I know.)
