Much as I love Rick and his solo spots, I'd really like to see him doing something different this year rather than the usual Henry/Merlin stuff - if he wants to bring in some fresh stuff for the Yes set, how about some fresh stuff for his own spot - right?

I'd love to hear a medley of something from Return, like Dance of 1000 lights, or After The Ball, or a snip from Criminal Record, like Crime of Passion/Breathalyser, or even some solo piano which there is plenty to choose from.

Please Rick. We've listened to ol' Henry 8 and Merlin for a few decades now. Time for a change before I die of old age.

If anybody has any other suggestions, please add em below.

Or if you think he should stick with the same solo, then add your bit as well!

Time grows short. . . .

I am in 100% agreement here. Either change it or drop it!

Totally agreeing here, and that btw goes for the Whitefish routine to, I much rather here Alan do an extended solo in the middle of a song (like he did on Perpetual Change on the Masterworks tour) and the same goes for Chris (like in Ritual on the Symphonic tour)........

Ditto, ditto, ditto to everything suggested here.

Guys, do something with in the body of a song, an extended improv.

Jon and Rick--Madrigal, absolutely beautiful, short song, hasn't been taken out since ABWH, and then only as part of a medley and no lyrics either. Elgin Mansions would be wonderful too--anything from the Heritage Suite. Jon, give us some world music.

Chris--I would love to hear the ENTIRE Fish. That was masterful on the 78/79 tour. Or the ENTIRE Tempus Fugit. Jon, put your reservations aside. And while you're at it, how about a little Conspiracy. With 3.5 hours you can do this.

No arguments from the Masses...Rick's solo tour incorported many unique pieces, including Dance of a 1000 lights. I'd suggest some of his 'Criminal Record' or '1994' stuff as these albums heavily featured Yes Men who could join in the fun?

The best way I can think of is to write Rick personally using the form provided in his site: http://www.rwcc.com/rwcc/code/message.asp

As to what other songs or medleys he should play, here's my list:

(Heritage Suite)
The Chasm

(Romance of the Victorian Age)
Dance of the Elves

(Return to the Centre...)
Dance of a 1,000 Lights
Floodflames

(1984)
Overture

They can drop all of the solos except for Steve's acoustic work.

For Wakey, though, I'd push for Excerpts from Six Wives as heard on Yessongs. That way, he would have to get the correct instruments for the rest of the Yes catalog for once. Then I would thoroughly enjoy the rest of the concert.

I totally agree. The solos are pointless and unimaginative. They shoud play more songs and stop boring us with the solos.

Well, you're going to get solo's, whether you like them or not. As Rick explained on the Yesspeak dvd, they feel that the solo's are a way of expressing the musical talents of each individualy (he didn't say this lituarly but this is what it came down to). Furthermore they're all in their late 50's and the solo's are also used as a welcome rest for the other members at that point. Remember they have said they will play 3,5 hrs. shows the upcoming tour and allthough they'll probably have a 20 minutes intermission, playing the music that Yes does, asks a lot of them and they'll probably going to need every second of rest they can get their hands on, so that they're able to give it the maximum when on stage playing.

So, I don't mind the solo's, but as I've said before, they should change the routines. No "Six Wives" anymore, no "Mood for a Day" or "Clap", no "Whitefish". We're talking about five of the most imaginetive musicians that ever walked the face of the earth. Surely they can come up with something original for a solo. Steve and Rick both have a wide collection of solo stuff to chose from and maybe Chris and Alan shouldn't have a routine, but an improvisation within a song. For example, at the beginning of the "the Ladder" tour, Alan played an extended drumsolo at the end of "Perpetual Change" and Chris did an improvised solo during the symphonic tour on "Ritual". I think that is the way to go for them.

So, solo's are fine by me, but not the same old stuff, we've been hearing for years now.

I wish they changed them all and while there at it record some PRESHOW stuff for us to listen too while waiting for the show to start. Put together a new overture of all the Yesmusic though out the years.
