Would you like DVD Audio releases of older albums that offer Dolby Digital 5.1 remixes?

I would support this. It would support the band as well as yet another great form of technology.

As posted elsewhere, Magnification and Close to the Edge are due out on dvd audio May 28th.
I recently ordered a JVC dvd audio player that should be coming with a Yes sampler disc on dvd audio. I can't wait.

Absolutely! This format will do nothing but enhance their music more than the way it is now.Go for it!
This DVD-A format has me so bummed! I went out an bought a DVD player--just so I could get HOB--as you could only get the virtual tourbook--or something like that on that format. So, now they come out with the DVD-A! Anybody want to buy a DVD player--not even one year old--played only a few times? I want to buy a DVD-A player now but can't justify the expense--or the space on my entertainment wall unit until I get rid of the DVD! I wish I would have known what Yes was up to. I would have waited and .... well you know.

Ebay can be a good place to sell a used dvd player.

I only have a DVD Video player, but the point it that as well as the high resolution DVD Audio stuff you get a DVD compliant DD5.1 remix which is still at higher resolution than CD. So you get an amazing new album with the knowledge that if you DO get a full DVD-A player later there's and EVEN BETTER version hidden and waiting for you to discover!!
Others go further. The upcoming Queen album "A Night At The Opera" includes all kinds of extras. "Hotel California!" by the Eagles includes a DD5.1 AS WELL AS a DTS soundtrack!! There's lots to enjoy.
DVD-A players are expensive right now...but in the UK a player is due to be released that will play DVD, DVD-A and even Sony SACD for only 300 pounds. That's a significant drop in prices. Reading the blurb for the Queen disc, they seem confident that if people get to hear Bohemian Rhapsody in its new high definition surround mix then the format will take off. I think if they begin to release stuff that people want then the format will take off. Its potential is to great to miss.

I'm not really offering to sell nightliner. It was just my way of musing disappointment in my bad luck. But thanks for your thoughts.
And Spongo, though I'm not entirely certain what you are saying--DD5.1 vs DVD-A, I am heartened that I am not going to be completely behind by keeping my DVD.

It is true that most dvd-audio discs will play a 5.1 surround on any dvd player, however, not all of them. For example, the dvd-a I ave of Magnification, will only play on a dvd audio player. Even the ones that play on standard players sound better in dvd-a and also have extra features.
Btw, my dvd-a player was only $250.00. It also has built-in dolby digital and dts decoders.

While Magnification is still due out on dvd-a on May 28th, it appears Close to The Edge has been delayed, if not cancelled indefinately. It seems as though they can't locate the original master tapes. Therefore Rhino will be releasing Fragile in its place...probably sometime this summer.

Wow! No excuse for that!

The dvd-audio of Magnification has been pushed back...so what else is new...the new release date is now July 30th. Fragile is due out sometime in the fall and there is still hope of finding a suitable master for Close to the Edge for its dvd-audio release.

Magnification you say? I could swear I saw Magnification DVD-Audio a couple of months ago here.

Wow! Old thread! Fragile and Mag are both out on DVD-A but I confess I only have Frag. Sounds great tho' - e.g. NO distortion on Cans And Brahms so you KNOW they're been back to the multi-track master and not just the 2 track master.
I can't be bothered hooking up the high def outputs (>SHOK<) (6 connections?) so I run everything DD or DTS in digital through a single cable. Zappa's DTS 96/24 are great example of the highest resolution. Quadiophiliac has a great QUAD track... 4 mikes, 4 band members, a basement and Frank's magic - lovely analoggy sound. JAZZ - Chunga's Basement.
