It all started with the Beatles, I used to make a guitar out of cardboard and play along with the albums. I got a bass guitar and amp for my 14th birthday and was in heaven! There were tuns of guitar players around but few bass players, which was great because even a crummy player like me could get in a band.

Then in 1970 I discovered acustic music. I sold all my electric stuff and bought a 12 string acustic. I was playing and doing 4 part harmony in a group.............and again it was heaven.

Then in 1972 my friend made me sit down and listen to the YES album. I had never heard anything like it! Here was powerful electric AND acustic music. ****, they even used a recorder! I went to their next concert and during Wakeman's solo felt the synthesizers send chills down my spine. I've never been the same since. Thier music opened me up to the beauty in all types of music that is well done, whatever the style.

Thanks Yes for all the great music.

I remember how I felt when I got the lead in Perpetual Change worked out on my Farfisa (1971). I had to play the album at 16 1/2 rpm to figure out the notes and in no time I was playing along at regular speed. Then when I got the (guitar) rhythm worked out on my left hand with the lead on my right, It was GREAT! Another great challenge that's fun to play is Release, Release.

I still think my greatest accomplishment was CTTE. Much later I got Yes music books vol. I & II as well as GFTO, from which I learned the opening piano to Awaken.

MY kids' friends are most impressed with the chorus on Roundabout - it seems familiar to a lot of them.

P.S.: I saw the Beatles at the Indiana State Fair, with my sister. It was the first day of 7th grade which would have been late August '64. The tickets were $3.

Chris has given me the drive to play Bass at age 34yrs, I have been playing almost 2yrs. I am having the time of my life! I cover Yes music, Beatles, Zeppelin and various others, but Yes tunes consume most of my time. All of you Bass players out there, do you have the starlicks Video with Chris? It is awesome and he explains about all of his Bass's and pedals, and shows some of his technic, its a must to have. I know where you can buy it. I am totally a chris fan. I did get to meet him during the Open Your Eyes tour<< long story>> he was so cool to us!!
