I am looking for a Video of either the Tales Tour or Relayer tour to relive the Rodger Dean stage creations. It's 30 years later and I still haven't seen anything like it.
I remember everything moving and all the colors. The acid helped as well.
Thanks,
Warren :homer:

Hi Ripple,
Thirty years later...and what? You're still tripping, everything's moving. You do realize, we are hiding that video from you, right?
Oh YES, and hi, welcome to YesFans, where you're NOT the only one that crazy of YES, you have not cornered the market, ... yet.
See thread below, and look at the bottom of this page for more!

Ripple, welcome to the site. The only readily available footage of these tours is QPR, which can be had on dvd. There are usually several listings for it on ebay.

Thanks for responding Peggy. I knew you guys were hiding that video from me but I wasn't 100% sure.
Actually things have stopped moving for the most part, even though the memory is still there, or was it my imagination?
I would love to relive some of those moments from 1974, without the acid. I am going to try that link, thanks.

Oh? I would love to re-live 1977...and with the acid too! Oops. I'm still hooked on YES, but gave up the other stuff years, no decades, ago.

I am still hooked on YES as well. Just saw Rick Wakeman locally here and he was so entertaining, not to mention Phenominal. Can't wait for them to come back and tour around here.
As far as the acid, I pretty much stopped that stuff over 20 years ago. Had some really great times at shows with it.

There were cameras rolling with jib arms (a big production) at New Haven for Tales. I asked Jon about this footage and he smiled and shrugged. My guess is that contract problems developed and was never finished. Some lucky producer may have it in their basement. I certainly have never seen it.

Cut to chase:
…The "Crab Nebula" stage set of the 1976 "Solo Albums Tour" was completely different from the stage set used in the "Relayer" tour, which is what the QPR video captures.
To the best of my knowledge -- and I have been researching this one for about five years now -- there are only three known film sources of the Crab Nebula show, all held by private owners.
I know a video dealer who has a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a few minutes of black and white 8 mm film taken at one of the "Crab" shows... I think in Minnesota. It is very grainy, blurry, and in black and white. You can't tell much from it.
The second source I have only *heard* about and have never been able to make contact with the owner. It may be a myth, or the alleged films may no longer exist. It was supposed to be about 8 minutes.
The third source is me. I have five full-color reels of super-8 mm movie film, taken during the roadie set-up and during the concert of the show in Dallas, Texas, August 6, 1976, at the Moody Coliseum. There might be 15 minutes of film there…Michele
The Tales tour was totally mesmerizing. To get a hold of the tape would be amazing.
I just remember sneaking down to the lower level watching my heros surrounded by Deans colorful luminous surreal set and lazers zooming everywhere through massive amounts of fog which made the band appear as if they were floating on clouds from behind a vale of tears streaming from my eyes while chasing the sound in 4D.
BTW...acid was definately and neccesarily a part of that experience. In thosse crazzy 70's, YES and Acid fit together like a hand in glove. YESID!!

To further clarify this, the Relayer tour used 2 stage sets. The 1974 North American tour and the 1975 European tour used a modified version of the Tales stage set (as seen in QPR video). The 1975 North American tour used the Relayer set known as the Barnacle stage. Then of course the solo tour of 1976 used the crab nebula set.

As mentioned in the YESOLOGY course at www.csi.edu/ip/ce/yesology/ the 1976 tour with the Crab Nebula stage was officially filmed but has never been released. I can add that someone at a high level made some enquiries in 2003 as to the whereabouts of the footage - unfortunately, I don't know the outcome.

I'm such a brat ... or I love to add chaos, either way, what does it mean? Who can connect the dots? Tempus fugit, times flies. Seems like we either run from the past or to it. And I'm just stuck in the now. This was posted February 1, 2004 in the trades forum under "The BEGINNINGS, the 1975 promotional video," posted by Dances. It's the wrong year from what MoorgladeMover says about "a high level made some enquiries in 2003 as to the whereabouts of the footage," but I just LOVE speculating. I'm here (Earth) to notice, nothing more, nothing LESS. (And I'm not very good at it yet, need more practice. :D Is this where I mention I'm blonde?)
Ew, who could be the "high level?" I hope he scores, for the betterment of mankind and all that...

Steve Howe is looking for something. Does anyone have a connection with this item?
Steve has been attempting to locate a master copy of BEGINNINGS, the 1975 promotional video which was shown in cinemas along with "Yessongs" at the time of its release. It was originally filmed on 35mm, and 16mm copies were also produced. Steve has tried to find this from various sources (including Atlantic Records) but so far hasn't been successful. He already has many VHS copies but they are not of the quality Steve desires for release.
The video contains the following titles:
"Ram" - live studio montage
"Breakaway from It All" - Documentary style
"Beginnings" - Live duet with Patrick Moraz
If you have a lead to either 35mm or 16mm copies please let us know via email asap.
They ask that you email mike@stevehowe.com and in the subject line type: Steve Howe Beginnings Video
