I have recently had the good fortune to interview Roger Dean. He was very pleasant and co-operative and left the door open for future interviews.

It occurred to me that an interview based on questions from Yesfans members would be fun. I will put together the interview from questions posted on this thread and then afterwards post the interview on Yesfans.

So for this to work, I need your questions. I won't guarantee that I'll use them all but I'll try to use as many as feasible.

Have you heard of YESFANS and a moderator named dancesw/purple and her shrine she has in your honor? ...just kidding.

Can she have your baby?
REALLY...just kidding.

What medium do you most enjoy working with? (oils, watercolor...)

Do you have a particular artist who has influenced your work?

To your knowledge where is the most unusual or exotic place one of your pieces is hanging?

What was your inspiration for the landscapes and floating islands?

What message do you hope your body of work sends?

Which one piece do you wish to be your legacy or does it remain within you?

SUPERB THREAD Brain.

howe ya doin hthere buddy? sorry i havent been in contact much..been working to 'pay the man'. haha!! [yeah-been working to get to england and maybe meet ya for real!]
i have a question and i'll leave it to you to word it properly..
i am curious as to how roger would come up with different 'art' for the different albums..[including other bands as well-not just yes]

how does he feel about yesfreaks using his logo all the time-from tattoos to easter eggs [yesyadda]and pumpkins [hots].. lol!

did he listen to the music to help him decide?
did he ask for ideas where each band wanted to go with the artwork?
and what was HIS favorite Yes album? lol!!
man-dude! you are always in the right place at the right time, arent ya? ;)

i just hope you can get to london next june! :D

Have you considered coming to the 'States to work on a housing development where we have lots of agricultural communities that would be well suited for your designs?

There are some good questions there to get started. Keep them rolling in - I'll keep the thread open for a few weeks.

Will you be designing the cover for that new live compilation coming out next year, and the new studio album? Instead of blue skies howabout orange with the logo in black?

I know you all ready asked him about designing next years stage, and he couldn't tell you much, but in another couple of weeks, he might know more.

Ellis asked what I thought to; Has Roger been asked to create the 'new' album cover ?
My 2nd question :
Do you listen to the material being created to inspire your artistic direction ?

Do you often show your work in galleries? If so, how do you choose those galleries?

Ask him about Planet Y on the Tales cover. Why has it only be revealed on the orginal LP cover 1973 - Canadian edtion. Refer to the Tales section for jpg. - YoEuSI
