YesSongs is essential for all Yes fans to own. Not only do you get every song from The Yes Album except "A Venture", but they're even better with Wakeman adding his touches. Don't get me wrong, Starship Trooper on the Yes Album is cool, but Slick Richard takes that song to a whole new level. You also get all of Close To The Edge, which comes out fresher and livlier on the live album. I like how Steve Howe decided to go with the electric guitar for the beginning of "And You And I". It adds a nice mood to the song. However, instead of putting Wakeman's solo snippets in, they should have included South Side of the Sky. I think If SSOTS was on the album, i'd probably have sex with it by now.

Yessongs blows me away every time I hear it- even decades later. So much improvising and jamming. Powerful just powerful. Good thing SSOTS isn't on that album, you could hurt yourself.

I'll have to join in in praise of the great Yessongs album. Sure, it only covers three albums, but it demonstrates just how powerful a band they had become. There are some definitive versions of songs on this album.

I have to concur with the above. I use YIND to demonstrate to people who haven't heard of Yes what they're all about. It's the album I'm most likely to put on for sheer unadulterated pleasure. Sure, it sounds like it's been recorded through a telephone box outside the arena, but I can listen past that.

That's the best live track they ever released. Steve at his best.
I love Yessongs, it was my first Yes CD I bought, all those many years ago.

"Yessongs" is the footprint by which 'live' albums would then follow. It captures the energy the band was injecting at that time.

I put Yessongs right up there with "Live at Leeds" as one of the all time best live rock albums. Everyone was blown away by "Yours is No Discrace" when I requested it during the Delicious Agony marathon. I love all the pakaging that comes with the original vinyl version. When Rhino gets around to releasing this, hopefully they'll do the same thing they did with "Fragile" and reprint the original booklet.

Right on, Face!! People are talking about the proposed 'Live Box Set' taking the place of Yessongs. I hope that doesn't happen. It is such an important album for Yes. I would like to see all of the artwork used for the LP as part of the new CD package. And Yessongs, to me, is as great a live album as 'Live At Leeds', or Deep Purple's 'Made In Japan'.

Oh No! Sheila - Yessongs is a MUST HAVE!
It summed up my first concert experience of Yes, and I prefer the live versions over the studio versions of the songs. And I agree with Mister Baron that Rick elevates the TYA songs to a new level - LOVE his ending on Starship Trooper!

The live boxed set replacing Yessongs?! That better not happen! I aim to get both. S'pose I'll have to pick up the Atalantic remaster of Yessongs and re-eq it myself, just incase. I only have Yessongs on vinyl.

So...
Is YES going to re-release it on Rhino, remastered and with all the trimmings?
So far, no go. Which is ridiculous.
Yessongs was my first true Yesfan experience, back when I was a young pup.
I say, put it out as a boxed set, with the original DEAN window in front, all the original tracks, and perhaps, added extras.
It's a must. I hope we see this eventually.
The greatest LIVE album ever.
Yessongs: What an amazing album it is.

Earl, I've heard you speak of a Dean window before. Could you scan it for us to see?
With regard to Rhino, I sure hope Yessongs gets the same treatment as the rest of the catalog. It seems to have been skipped, though.

It's my all time favorite Yes album. It's just amazing.
I like Yesshows more. Blasphemy? I don't know. I just think the songs sound a little more different from their studio versions on that album.
Yeah, and the album cover, bird and all.

This was my introduction to true classic Yes. Being as Tormato
was my first and Drama my second, oh sure, I had heard "Roundabout" and "All good people" from this album on the radio, I was completely blown away by the metallic heaviness
of this album. I can remember playing this for my metal freinds after listening to Slayer and Metallica back in 87 stoned out of our gords having them look at each other roll their eyes
and slowly one by one leaving as I banged by myself in extasy.
