Today was the preview of new Yes DVD organised in Paris by the French Fan Club "Nous Sommes Du Soleil". With some 40 other persons I attended the "show" so I thought I could give you my impressions on the DVD.
The DVD mostly consists of interwiews of each present members made during the 2003 tour: Jon in his house in San Luis Obispo, Rick in Tenerife, Alan on his boat around his home in the Seattle area, Steve in Devon and Chris with his whole family gathered in Ibiza after the Madrid show.
The first part focuses on the history of the band stressing on the major albums. Some funny or interesting stories... but probably nothing new for those who read all Yes books. But it's quite pleasant to hear and see each member. They all seem quite friendly and it shows that they are happy to play together these days.
Then there is a special part dedicated to each member with again, interviews and extract from the daily life on the road during the last tour.
One good news is that Jon said that after doing many concerts with simple visual effects, they think of doing some more spectacular shows and they have been in touch with Roger Dean regarding that... so we can hope for the best.
Overall I liked the DVD and all the interviews. They all seem happy to be still playing music together. They certainly have acquired a lot of maturity nowadays.
The DVD also contains an audio part with a show from the 2003 tour but I don't know which one - according to the Fan Club, it might be from the UK. We did not heard that part.
I am quite happy to have been able to see that DVD in great conditions with other fans and on a big screen ! Now we have to wait for the official release.
