Today was the preview of new Yes DVD organised in Paris by the French Fan Club "Nous Sommes Du Soleil". With some 40 other persons I attended the "show" so I thought I could give you my impressions on the DVD.
The DVD mostly consists of interwiews of each present members made during the 2003 tour: Jon in his house in San Luis Obispo, Rick in Tenerife, Alan on his boat around his home in the Seattle area, Steve in Devon and Chris with his whole family gathered in Ibiza after the Madrid show.
The first part focuses on the history of the band stressing on the major albums. Some funny or interesting stories... but probably nothing new for those who read all Yes books. But it's quite pleasant to hear and see each member. They all seem quite friendly and it shows that they are happy to play together these days.
Then there is a special part dedicated to each member with again, interviews and extract from the daily life on the road during the last tour.
One good news is that Jon said that after doing many concerts with simple visual effects, they think of doing some more spectacular shows and they have been in touch with Roger Dean regarding that... so we can hope for the best.
Overall I liked the DVD and all the interviews. They all seem happy to be still playing music together. They certainly have acquired a lot of maturity nowadays.
The DVD also contains an audio part with a show from the 2003 tour but I don't know which one - according to the Fan Club, it might be from the UK. We did not heard that part.
I am quite happy to have been able to see that DVD in great conditions with other fans and on a big screen ! Now we have to wait for the official release.

Thanks for the review Flo.
Did your screening show the whole DVD? I understood it was just going to show 1 hour of it.
Was there any coverage of the shows they filmed in the UK last year?
I hope the finished DVD isn't all interviews. I want to see the guys on stage.

Stevie, What we watched lasted more than 2 hours. There are some coverage of the last tour shows but just excerpts and they are from many differents shows (Roma, Spain, Paris and others).

There should be a part with an entire show but we did not watch that one and I am not sure whether this is just audio...

Actually I just checked Yesworld and they say this is audio only !

... I had the pleasure to watch the 1 hour version of YesSpeak at the yesfocus-gathering in Eindhoven some weeks a go. Most of all, I was impressed, how this DVD was filmed and cut. We get not only entertained by seeing Yes, this film is arranged in a very artful way. I think, somebody already mentioned the last shot - when all Yes-members leave the stage after a show. They look like gunmen after a shootout. It's really cool.

Greetings

Peter

By the way, Flo, don't know if you are interested in soccer - the french team impressed me tonight. Maybe we will get a revanche next year at the european championship.

Thanks Flo.
I'll be buying it whatever it has on it. I'm always interested to hear what the guys have to say. It sounds good that thay were interviewed in different more relaxed locations. I'll just have to watch Symhonic over and over, for my live fix, to get me through to next June.

Hi Peter !

Pleased to know that you have been able to see the one-hour version. They say it will be broadcast in the US television and some other countries.
As you said the whole programme is arranged in an artful way and I hope it will appeal to new audiences.

By the way, I am not really interested in soccer and did not know about the French playing today...

This is sounding like a movie version of the Yesstories book. If the price was right I'd buy it. Is there any video footage of songs in full?, and how is Roger Daltrey's narration?

There's no video footage of song in full.

As for Roger Daltrey's narration I found it a bit too much enthusiastic but overall it's ok.

I heard another fan saying that this video reminded him of the Yesyears one. I have never seen it myself so I can't confirm.

Yesyears is wonderful, Flo, it is one of the most beautiful and interesting YesThings ever. Buy it, it is available on video and dvd. It will make your YesLife richer. And YesSpeak seems to be a perfect part II of that.

Greetings

Peter

Thanks for the heads up on the video Flo, even if it was a compulsory purchase simply because it says Yes on the cover.
