Here's a cryptic question:
Does anyone know what I mean if I ask- do you know that moment in To Be Over?
If you do, what does it mean to you?

Could it be the one at "don't doubt your part, be ready to be loved" and then it goes into the closing section?
Man, I never noticed what a tongue twister that bit of Sound Chaser lyrics is!
faster moment spent spent... no wait...
faster moment spreant ... d'oh!
faster moment spent spread tears of change... oh that's not right
Hey, welcome to Yesfans Unjay!

To Be Over is To Be Begun.
It's that sweet moment of satori, where one realizes that this world isn't all that there is.
...When you notice, ineffably, that it doesn't matter so much, how long you grace this planet, as to what you do while you are here.
During the limited time you have.
If you live richly, if you give from your soul, and if you leave things better than you found them...
To Be Over.
It is always a new beginning.
And that is what matters.
Nastame!

Thanks for the welcome... I'm back after a long absence!
Yes, tongue twisting to sing as it must be brain-bending to perform!
No, the moment I am talking about is during the guitar solo when suddenly the whole world changes and opens out and nothing is ever the same- Earl Gray's post wins the prize as far as capturing the essence of that moment although he does not identify it musically!
It occurs at 4:30, a single note held as it were on a mountain pass...
Peace

It's when the strings/french horns start and the guitar hits the high B note (19th fret, high E string).

I can't name one moment in Steve's sublime guitar solo (by far my favorite of all of his solos). That solo is amazing; once you think it's done and it couldn't possibly get any better, he changes direction and explores another, even more amazing terrain, topping his last effort, until it climaxes just before "Childlike soul dreamer."
I played "To Be Over" to a friend of mine that has been playing and studying guitar all his life, and he's in his mid-50s. A bunch of us were talking, and he all of a sudden made us all shut up. At the end of TBO, he said, "That was NICE. Play it again." (This from a guy that's far more critical than anything when it comes to guitar. He RARELY really LIKES anything).
He made me play it about 5 times, then said "That is just about the most perfect bit of guitar I've ever heard...and that even includes Stevie Ray Vaughn."
I don't think you can get much more praise from a guitarist.

Pure fantasticness.

It's my favorite Yes song and that moment in the song still gives me a one with all/ warm tingling sensation that no other song has ever done.
I think it makes my energy vibrate faster and makes you for a split second see the bigger picture and realize that all is perfect and is what it should be.

Definitely one of my fave songs - I just love the ending, gives me chills. So does the end of The Remembering.

Steve's solo is one of the great moments of "To Be Over" for me.

Yes, well it is good!
I like also the solo guitar version from the `YESTALK` DVD....that captures a different mood completely...more serene...
It`s nice the way Steve plays the entire song "To be over" using just his acoustic guitar to duplicate the `feels` in the song.
NICE!undefined :harp:
