I have a tape that I made recently to listen to in the car that has these two songs nearly back to back, and I am surprised at how much one reminds me of the other, being from significantly diifferent line-ups (although from the same decade)...Which one do you like more...

The Calling

vs.

Homeworld

I like the Calling and all, but Homeworld takes it for sure. I think the part that goes:

"I have seen the passion
That's in the hope that everyone
Will find their way into
The secret of
The home of your heart"

. . . that really gets my head bobbin. Which kinda makes my nose do this forward stabbing motion. And since I like nose stabbin' so much (??? ???) I'll take "Homeworld." Plus you know, . . . . I'm more of a 'trooper' I guess you'd say.

Homeworld is an amazing YES epic.

I love the thing, and wish that Wakey would play it, as it would be another LONG moment of beauty in our current Yeshow plethora...

I was thrilling to And You And I this swing of the tour, as i did to Magnification. I'm still amazed that the guys played MAG at the Arrowfest greatest hits set that they played...

Homeworld was Igor's claim to fame in the band.

It has all the elements that say YES in the truest manner...

A great song, and I wish it was still in the setlist.

Who knows? We may hear it again.

I, for one, would love to hear Homeworld live with Wakey...

Igor was good in his time: he imitated Wakey better than ANYONE under the sun!

I say full speed ahead to the Homeworld.

An amazing song!

I went with "The Calling" and the thundering Squire. The vocal harmonies are a bit better too.

I went with The Calling, even though it's not my favourite song on Talk. I like the vocals a lot.

My problem with The Calling, and this is true with much of the Yes-West era music, is the repetition. Same thing over and over again. Still, I like the song once in a while, it is catchy and fun. And it has that incredibly difficult radically modulating and key changing instrumental bridge that lasts about 20 bars or so that, if in a less generally repeditive song, would be utterly amazing (anybody know which part I'm referring to here?)...

Homeworld, on the other hand, is a Yes epic, with varied musical and emotional content, and one of the funkiest guitar parts you'll ever hear. In fact, it's been a long time since I listened to it, time to hear it again...

So no contest here. I don't even see the similarity. Homeworld.

Oh, and I love the game HomeWorld, if that counts for anything.

Great..It's 50-50 again!

I know the part you are talking about exactly!

I am not sure why, but one song always reminds me of the other....maybe the organ tone? Not sure...Just me being strange I suppose...lol

I just broke the tie. I go with Earl on this one. Homeworld is fabulous. Just love the cascading bass line before it breaks into the chorus. It rocks and it feels like Yes with all the intellect and emotion colliding like good Yes epics do.

It's one of my favorite tunes and Igor did a helluva job here, I must say.

No competition in my book. Homeworld by a mile.

While The Calling is a good song, I find that Homworld is alot better; more depth to it and I find it more interesting. The Calling I think can sometimes drag on just ABIT too much.
