Does anybody have this? I have seen this on ebay. It says it has a full band documentary from 1968 to 1994 on it. Is it worth getting? Will all computers with a cd rom take it?

I just won if off eBay. I put it into my CD-Rom drive and...nothing. Grr. It was released 10 years ago so my computer doesn't seem to recognize it as a CD-Rom, even though I didn't think it would be a problem. I messed around with it, trying to get it installed, but something just isn't working right. Finally I was able to open the video files, and has the band talking about "Talk". Jon tends to talk more about the spiritual side of things, and Trevor and the rest more about the album itself. It is kind of a let down in a few areas; the box claims there is 3 different intros to "The Calling" by Trevor on it, but it is basically TR playing the intro on his guitar 2 times pretty much the same and one acoustically. They show video of live versions of I'm Waiting and Walls which is really nice but then they cut away HALF WAY THROUGH THE SONGS!???? HUH?? I didn't get that; perhaps there wasn't enough room on the CD, but it was frustrating. The interview clips are short too, and they cut off while the person is still talking so it is odd, like there should be more of these bits on this CD somewhere. It seems more like an enhanced version of the TALK CD, as all the TALK tracks are on here in audio in addition to the video stuff, which I guess the makers of this intended. I just wish the video parts weren't such teasers and would have been longer. It's interesting though, and if you can find it, grab it and check it out.

I do have the CDRom. You do need Quicktime to view the CD. It is a cool piece of memorabilia to have, especially if you enjoy Talk. You have to remember this came out 10 years ago and technology was just starting on this craze (before Windows 95!!). I love the live songs. I wish there were more songs. The CD also plays the whole Talk CD. As far as the time length on the interview parts and live, there may have only been a certain amount of time they could put on each file. As far as the history of the band, I didn't see that. If your interested in more info on the Talk album, it is worth it to buy.

J you can try what judystrevo suggested or you can contact the seller and ask them what's up?

Thanx for the help, gang. That's the funny thing; I have Quicktime installed and it still didn't work right. It's not the fault of the seller, as I got it in mint condition, sealed in the factory plastic and everything. I can play the files, it just doesn't show the main menu screen that is shown on the box. It's still a great Talk collectible, and I wish there was more live stuff from this tour out there.

If you have to, RUN the CDRom and then you can double click on each file. I had problems when I first got it. I ended up putting the whole thing on my hard drive, so I wouldn't have to fool with the CDRom. Which, BTW, I think I'll watch the live tracks before I logoff here to go to work!! ;)

Also, there are quite a few boots from Talk out there. Check out the Trade/Sale section of the website. And, I trade shows. So, if your interested in trading, let me know!! ;)

I've had it since it came out .. I used to run it under Windows 3.11 before 95 came out. I run Windows 98 now and it works ok for me.

There are some demo tracks on the CD too . . and they are stored as AIF Files i think .. if you are really clever you can extract them using a program like cool edit pro then convert them to WAV files then burn them to a CD so you can play the demo's in a normal CD player .. :)

Not sure why you can't get it to work in your PC . . maybe you are not installing it properly?

As far as the History of the band is concerned it is just a Discography . . but they actually made a mistake with it and it missed half of the albums off lol.

There is also a feature where you can play the instruments of each band member and hear them talk about it.

You really need to get the menu going so you can see all of this extra stuff.

Hope you can get it going .. :)

Thanks Mike!! I think I will have to fool with my CDRom. I have Windows ME. I know!! I just can't upgrade to XP. 98 is a possibility, but I haven't done it yet. ;)

Ahhhhhh Windows ME!!! .. That explains it ....

Basically ME sucks .. I know of other people who can't get stuff that ran on 98 to run on ME. You will have to search for special drivers.

Why Oh Why did Microsoft release this dog without all the required drivers is anyones guess??

LOL!! If you have any idea where I can find the correct drivers, please let me know. ME came with this computer 3 1/2 years ago. I had no choice. I almost upgraded to XP 2 years ago, but wimped out. I would have to back everything up on here (which I haven't started doing YET!!) before I would spend the money to upgrade Windows. I'll do with what I have, I guess!! LOL!! ;)

A good IT friend of mine did suggest I upgrade to 98 (wouldn't that be downgrading!! LOL!!), not XP. I guess there are some flaws in the XP system too. Maybe one day!! ;)
