Hi there,

Since I've been regularly on Yesfans.com i've attached several images done by me on the site. Based on great response I got from you guys I decided to put them together in this thread.

So, have a look!

This one is The meeting, used initially for the first Yesfocus meeting. I started this fanclub together with my lovely wife and this guy you probably know as Andersonic. It was held at the end of 2000, and YesFocus is now the big Yesfanclub in Holland!

This is Cenema, used for several purposes such as invitations etc. Love that reddish color!

Here we have Dawns From Diaphragm Movemants, an image done for a friend of mine who is in this band called Dedication. It is inspired on the Tales image and the idea was to create a cliff like a camera's diaphragm. It Symbolizes the way in which all seperate band members fit togeher in this band.

I still dream of those mornings when these cliffs are taking pictures when the sunlight shines thru them...

This image is called Twister and is a kind of try out. It is never finished and it never will be. I've done it in the wrong type of media and found myself dissapointed when the paint started to crackle and fall of the background. Be careful with gouache!

What about this one? It is done on one afternoon and is called Shipwreck. It is done for the next YesFocus meeting and was used on posters and invitations. I like it because it surely has this 70's Roger Dean style in my opinion!

This image is still not finished but will be done the next couple of weeks. It is part of a project I'm doing about Jules Verne. This one is Red Valley.

When Rick Wakeman's return to the Centre album came out in 1999 I got carried away with the image. It is such a prime example of Roger's work that pictures just a part from a whole world.
Every time I see his images I feel I wan't to be part of that world and explore it.

And that is exactly what I did. I've been reading the Jules Verne novels several times and put sketches on paper immediately! Can't wait to start painting!...

This image is part of a series of three images done recently for this band calld Trion. the project is called Tortoise and the music is based on a story about a beautiful turtle.

this is Tortoise 1

And Tortoise 3. This last image is done afterwards and in the end decided to use it in the project. The backdrops were very difficult to create, but I managed! Then i draw several cretures and pasted them to the background using the computer. I found it very dissapointing to cut the seperate images...

This image is one of my earliest and I wandered if I should put it here. It is called Curse of the Revolution, and is a bit of a surrealistic image. It handles about the way human beings sometimes destroy the beautiful earth that we live on...

When I finished the other images? I don't know... Only time will tell.

See you all soon!

Love to everyone,

Jasper Joppe Geers

OMG, Master of Images! I could feel the birds inhaling on Dawns from Diaphragm Movements. Yes, it makes me feel, it makes me want, it moved me. What emotions am I missing?! Do it again.

Excellent work Jasper! Well done!

I love the smokiness of ..actually the submersed effect of the tortoise series. The moons throw it a bit which pulls the eye in that direction. I love to look at a piece with interesting areas that have their own conversation.

Red Valley is RED. Love what you did with that color family.

More? Very good work Jasper. Where are you using this work?

EXCELLENT WORK, JJ!!

wow!
my buddy is getting ready to release some of his tunes very soon, and i could just SEE that tortoise on his cd cover!!
[i have my reasons and i am sworn to secrecy for now, but it has to be blue]

wonderful images.. also, the explanations you gave really added to the views..
esp for 'artistically challenged' folks, like me..

beautiful work!
i really envy you artsy fartsy people!!

eye candy indeed!! [but thought-worthy, as well.]

Most of my work is been used as album covers or invitations etc... Basically my work finds the same routes as roger's work, and most of the time it finds it's way into music as cover art.

I had plans once to have an exhibition, but by the time I had to get everything ready my wife gave suddenly birth to our beautiful daughter. One day I'll invite you all to come over to holland, that's for sure...

Right now I can only envy BrianD down there with the company of Roger's original work!!!

By the way Upb... I should tell you this: the Tortoise images are already used on a CD album, so no chance for your idea I'm afraid. However, if there are certain ideas about this CD album I'd be glad to give my thoughts and art. If you want to give this a thought send me a private message and we can discuss possible ways if you like.

Love to both of you!

Jasper.

Oh, I forgot to tell you: I'm going to design the new T-shirts for Yesfans.com as well... Stay tuned... just stay tuned...

Jasper, your artwork is incredible!!
Since green, emerald green in particular, is my favorite color, I especially like the very first image in this thread, and the work-in-progress Twister. But all of them are just beautiful!!
Thanks for sharing with us!! :D

Hi everyone,

Just something I'd like to show you:

It is the intial artwork for this ProgRock festival in Holland called Progfarm.
A lovely festival with some excellent bands and great atmosphere I got hooked on last year. For this year they also asked me to do all kinds art, and jumped on it.

Here's the advertisement used in a dutch prog magazine called IO pages.
It is a really retro thing pure black and white the older Yesfans among us remember from the seventies!

Have a look

Furthermore, here is the logo.

It was a hell of a job to fix, but I managed! It is what I most like to do, the early seventies style!

Love,

Jasper.

Great work Jasper - it does bring back memories of the 70s. Been reading some archival Yes articles from the early 70s - plenty of b&w artwork there!

Hey Jasper!!

Wow dude! Awesome artwork! I thought I heard Sally Khatru say you were an artist and maybe did some stuff on her website, but I wasn't for sure - now I am!!

I love the early 70's style logos - nice work!! Thanks for posting these up Jasper, they're awesome.............hey, can you tell me anything about copywriting; how you go about doing that?? I'm sure if I type it into the internet I could find something but maybe you have an easy suggestion?

Thanks again - AWESOME artwork!!!

Peace and LOve,
Em

Hey JJ, I LOVE that Progfarm logo....thats worthy of the great Dean himself !!

I hate you artistically talented types - only 'cos I can't draw my own name, let alone such beautiful images as you've posted.

Well done mate and keep up the good work,

Nigel

I'm happy to report that Jasper has agreed to do the cover for the Yesfans Fundraising CD! Although there are so many talented artists here on Yesfans, I wanted this CD to represent a cross section of Yesfans from all over the world.

This will really be an international effort, showing the best that the internet can be.

Thank you again Jasper!

I have to say that the startup page is looking good to me now!

Hi everyone,

Just a little thingy I'd like to show to you:

This one is called 'Fly' and is done in a series of excercises. From that the images for the All Good People album will evolve.

I tried to get Emily's Dad involved as well, but did not work... Basically the framework for this album is set by now.

I hope you like it, I'll add a desktop version in the Shoppe for ya.

Love,

Jasper.

AWESOME! Glad to see I'm not the only Roger Dean emulator in the world! I'm a bit novice, but I've been doing it for the past few months in both sketch and photoshop. Here's a photoshop logo I did a month ago.

PS: do I need to put credits on here? (they usually require it on most forums)

I like it Overstate, good job!!

I don't think you have to put a credit on it, it is in your message and only you can edit it.

Got any more?

Hi there...

Me.. (again!)

Since I moved house to this new place here called Schijndel quite a lot has happened. A lot of work came over me, which is a good thing of course, one of which is local TV. I did not realise I had the abillity to focus my given talents and hands on such direction, but reality proves to be so!

I was asked some weeks ago to come up with new ideas for a TV Show, including a new look. It happens to be some kind of dinner show, with lot's of different thing happening. Cannot think of a program on your TV to compare of course, but it is some kind of family thing...

The show is called SPOT Magazine, and here's the logo:

Love to everyone hey!

Jasper.
