Hey!
Does anyone know a definite answer to whether or not The Tales... tour was videotaped/filmed in any way? Sections of it? Anything? If so who has and how do I get it?
I have always been under the impression that the Tales... footage is like Genesis' The Lamb lies down on Broadway footage:
It was supposedly filmed by SOMEONE, but for some strange reason no one can find it or it is just plain not in exsistence anymore.
I think it's about time BOTH of these concerts are shared. SO if anyone reads this and has Tales...(or the Lamb...) you should definitely say something!!!!! I'd pay up to $75 for Tales... and over $100 for a Lamb... video (even though you aren't supposed to pay for boots).
A videotape of Tales???? Oh please come out of hiding! Call me, e-mail me, post to me, and haroldthebarrel.

The fourth concert I ever went to, and the first time I saw Yes, was 12 March 1974, the Tales From Topographic Oceans tour, at University Arena in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I brought a Super 8mm camera with me and got 3 minutes of film, which I still have. Somone unfamiliar with Yes would not get much out of it, but if you're aware, you'll recognize Wakeman's sequined cape, Squire's thigh-high boots, and the Roger Dean stage setup, especially Wakeman and White, and the mirrored disc from the beginning and end of Close To The Edge. When I finally quit procrastinating and transfer this to videotape or digital video, I'll be happy to share it with anyone interested.

You could quite possibly be the only person in the world to have any footage whatsoever of Yes' Tales tour. Keep it safe ad transfer it. I have heard only that there is no film in existence, and since I took interest in finding tales film years ago, I have heard nothing but negatives as to any films existence.
That there is no video document of that tour is to me, the shame of the century. I guess that's what happens when everyone is doing acid at the same time.

It's interesting...
Joni, Did you notice that the guy who posted that he had the TALES footage (Steve) never posted here again following that post...
Check it out, that was from three years ago! Bizarre...
It WOULD be a rare film indeed... And yes, I would LOVE to see that film too, even if it were only three minutes long.
TALES was my first Yesshow, the stage set was stunning... The band was at their peak (well, one of their many peaks!).
I wonder what ever became of Steve Brittenham? I bet YES management would even be interested in getting a copy of that super 8 film...

Just been doing a bit of research on Forgotten Yesterdays about this topic.
According to that wonderful site, there is actually a 135 minute pro-shot footage of the Detroit show on 28th February 1974. It doesn't give any indication of where it is located.
There is also a 10 minute video of the MSG concert of 18th February 1974 and 6 minute footage of the Albuquerque show on the 14th March 1974.
So there is more out there than we realise.

Jon was recently (this tour) asked about the pro shoot, he smiled and shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.. He was asked by a member here.

there is footage of the tales concerts, the band had it taped like they did the CTTE era footage. I read somewhere that because of legal reasons as to who owned it blah blah blah you know the. I remeber reading it on steve howes guitar rondo site a couple of years ago. They were going to release it like they did yessongs in the movie theater but it never happened.
so to make a long story short YES there is footage. They have it meaning the band.
thats all I know, thanks Dan

MOT: Weren't you saying that to your knowledge there wasn't a decent recording of the TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS tour?
AW: I don't think TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS was ever really recorded as well as it could have been on tape, including video, film, or anything. In fact there's one guy who filmed it. He was a Canadian guy and I really don't know where the tape from that went to, and nobody does. The guy kind of went out of existence or something like that. So there is a copy of TOPOGRAPHIC somewhere. It was a Canadian guy who shot it and that still remains a mystery to everybody in the band, so there's something out there.

squire probably has it in his attic...
Don't know for sure, but.
This idea is not far from the truth from what I've heard.
A guy called Colin (he who bought the Yes stage sets from the 70s for his garden) said on the Yestalk site recently that Squire has loads and oads of videos of all the tours "for his own personal usage".
Colin's response came to a similar question about the possibility of footage for Crab Nebula. According to Clin (Dinky) it exists.
Well at least there's another possibility of ever seeing it.

There's no shortage of boots (tapes, vinyl, etc.) out there. Tales at Cobo Hall (cassett) is here. There is another recording of Tales, a double album with the Trevor Rabin lineup on the cover - I don't know which show, that's here too. No video, though. I'll keep lookin'.

Jimmy gtr is correct, if they ever do release anything it should have a "scratch'n'sniff tandoori cover.

The mere thought of seeing footage has me buckling at the knees...
Remember the stage? Man that was a show!
It wasn't just music, it was a total visual.

Where is RickWeber and MrZuLu reporting from when they say "I've got this here , but that's not here...." Where is here? Do they have some footage? and finally, why on earth does this post, like this Steve B guy, just kinda end? Actually, where is any footage of any of these concert tours from Tales through to Drama? 1974-80? That's like 7 years of touring and nobody has produced anything professionally of any of these tours. That's not even funny. That's a damned disgrace!
